| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JUNE 2022 | 11 Facilities Committee Life as we knew it. I thought I would start off with this phrase as it applies to our community and to our personal lives. It's been one year since I wrote the Herald article for the Facilities Committee. So much has changed in our life due to COVID and now the war in Ukraine. Not only are we getting older, so is Four Seasons. I feel that the Facilities Committee has a responsibility of keeping our community the way the builder designed and built it. The way we do this is through our monthly inspections performed by our members, our service/maintenance companies, Tim Gross, First Service maintenance and from you our homeowners. Once we receive a maintenance request or suggestion for a project, we have to determine whether to replace, repair or defer the item for further review. Most of our committees have this responsibility. Our Finance Committee, working with the management company, has the responsibility to plan for day-to-day and future cost for us to complete these projects. Of course, the Board of Directors oversees and approves all of the recommended projects. As you can imagine, the next couple of years are going to be very challenging for our community. I know all of the Facilities members are ready and willing to meet these challenges. One final thought; the word "transparency." All of Four Seasons Committee Agendas have an allowance for homeowner input at the beginning of their scheduled meetings. You can voice your concerns, ask questions or even apply to become a member. There is no hidden agenda here and "never was so much owed by so many to so few" (Winston Churchill). ~ Robert Walker, Facilities Committee Library Committee The Library Committee welcomes all Four Seasons residents to our library. If you recently moved here, be sure to stop by! The following should help answer questions as to how the library operates. Things that might assist you to utilize our library to its fullest: 1. All books, magazines, audio and puzzles are available for residents only. 2. We do not require any item to be checked out or stamped. 3. The library is run on the honor system and it continually has worked very smoothly. 4. There is no minimum/maximum time to keep an item but out of courtesy to other residents the norm is two to three weeks. 5. All fiction books are alphabetized by author. 6. Biographies, non-fiction, large print, health, classics and religion are labeled and located in the cabinets below the paperbacks. 7. Audio-book CD's are located in two labeled cabinets below the fiction books. 8. Also we are proud to have a section for our Four Season Authors located below the hardcover fiction books. 9. I don't think anyone can miss our extensive puzzle collection. These started in 2020 during the pandemic. 10. Magazines can be found easily on our magazine rack. All 12 members on the Library Committee are volunteers (like all committees within Four Seasons). Our primary function is to keep the library neat and organized. It takes all of us to ensure the library is up and running smoothly. We love donated books and magazines (within our current copyright dates which are hardcover fiction 2013 to present and paperbacks 2018 to present). Hopefully you have visited our library! It's one of the best in any 55+ community. If you have any suggestions or ideas for the library, please put it in our suggestion box. Like most committees, we improve because of feedback from our residents. In June we celebrate both Flag Day on June 14 and Summer Solstice on June 21. Now that summer is just around the corner come, find, and enjoy a summer read from your Four Seasons library. ~ Betty Barr
