58 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2022 Meet our Ping Pong Player of the Month -- Mitchell Harmon Where were you born? My twin brother and I were born in a U.S. Naval Hospital in Agana Heights, Guam. When did you move into Four Seasons and where did you move from? My wife, Susie, and I moved to Four Seasons in April 2014 from Duarte, Calif. What attracted you to Four Seasons? My wife was very attracted to Four Seasons due to the low cost of newer homes in this area. We also liked the quiet neighborhood and beautiful mountains in the background. What field did you work in before you retired? With my degree from Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, I became an Art Director at Leo Burnett Advertising Agency in Chicago, Illinois. I also drew storyboards for Rice Krispies cereal and designed their package backs. Later I moved back to Los Angeles and worked for a large Oil Company, Unocal Corporation, designing their Point of Sale signage for 1,500 service stations. What are some of your favorite activities now that you are retired? I really enjoy riding my Ebike around Four Seasons with the rest of the Ebiker's gang. I also love playing ping pong at The Courts. What interesting places have you traveled to? Susie and I have traveled to Switzerland, Austria, Bavaria, England, Washington D.C., Mexican Riviera, and the Caribbean Islands. How did you get started playing ping pong? I started playing ping pong at 13 and stopped playing when I left home to go to college. I was able to play ping pong in Chicago and Mexico when I saw tables available at a resort. What do you enjoy most about ping pong? The thing I enjoy most about table tennis are the people. Some of the women I play with are very good players. Would you encourage other residents to join our ping pong club and why? I encourage other residents to play the game because it keeps the muscles moving and the brain on full alert. Come join Mitch and all the other fun loving ping pong players at The Courts. We play ping pong Monday through Saturday from 2 to 4 pm. We also offer free ping pong lessons for all levels of players coached by Jim Wang on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1 pm. Want more information?
