32 | THE COLONY NEWS | JULY 2022 | CLUB NEWS Men's Golf Thanks to everyone who attended and donated to our very successful June 4th Pancake Breakfast. This was one of our best attended breakfasts, with over 300 attendees enjoying plates of great pancakes and sausages prepared and served by a team of volunteers from the Men's Golf Club. Our scholarships for local Murrieta school athletes are financed by income from these breakfasts, so the great attendance helps tremendously. Our Scholarship Chairman, Dennis Murphy, identified Murrieta school athletes who met the criteria to receive these scholarship funds. Presentations of the awards were made during a special luncheon held in June in the Auditorium and included the students, their coaches and parents. We pickleball players don't think so! On May 26 we were joined by 10 friends from the Four Seasons who stayed for three hours of nonstop fun. There will undoubtedly be more play dates to follow. On June 4, we held our monthly tournament with fantastic outcomes. Lisa Otten and Karen Nichols tied for first place in the women's division and Rich Brown dominated the men's division to finish on top. Our next tournament will take place on the morning of Saturday, July 2. Hope to see you there! We are also thrilled to welcome eight new pickleball players to our group. Lessons are free, available at any time on any day, and no equipment is necessary; we have paddles and balls available for you to use.
