| OHCC LIVING | AUGUST 2022 | 43 Swim, Surf & Wellness Mark your calendar for the next Swim & Wellness Club member meeting. On Thurs., Sept. 15 at 1 pm, we'll meet on Palm Court. Watch your email for more information on who our speaker will be. Member Spotlight: Club member Sharon Fineberg is in the spotlight this month. Sharon started using the pool about three years ago when she began attending the aqua fitness classes. Now Sharon enjoys doing her own thing! She waterwalks in the pool using foam weights. Her doctors tell her that is a great way to exercise, as the water gives great resistance without pressure on joints. Sharon is also in charge of the Stretch and Balance class, which is under the auspices of the Swim & Wellness Club. In addition to these activities, she plays bocce two or three days a week, as well as bunco and Mexican trains. Sharon is originally from Rochester, NY. She met husband Roger after moving to Chicago and that's where they started their family. When the kids were four and six years old, the whole family, including Roger's brother and his family, all moved to California. They lived for 25 years in the San Fernando valley. 20 years ago, Sharon and Roger moved to OHCC, mostly because it was halfway between where their children and grandchildren live. Their son is a principal in the Tustin schools and recently was chosen California Administrator of the Year. Sharon's daughter and family live in Carmel Valley. They are especially proud of their oldest granddaughter who just graduated from Tulane and was accepted into a doctorate program at George Washington University. The club continues to offer FREE swim instruction. Whether you're a water phobic beginner, or an experienced swimmer who wants to perfect a certain stroke, we have a deal for you! Our instructors are all club members who truly want to share their love of the pool with you. That's why they willingly volunteer their time. Contact Ken Krueger at k2krueger@yahoo.com for more information and to discuss what your needs might be. SW is looking for new members. Would you like to be more involved in all pool-related issues?
