32 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | SEPTEMBER 2022 | Golf Club From the President Tom Moore: It seems like only yesterday that we were looking forward to the warm, long, lazy days of summer. Now, just a few months later, we're complaining about the heat and longing for the cooler days of Autumn. Well, like it or not, September has arrived. The Autumnal Equinox will occur at 12:21PM on Thursday, September 22nd, and we're about to enter the time of year when we transition from the heat of summer into the cooler, more comfortable days of fall. One of my most vivid memories of this time of year is my mother loading my brother and I into the family car and heading to the local Montgomery Wards to buy our new school clothes. I'll never forget the distinctive smell of those new school clothes. Our "road trip" golf game at Soboba Springs Country Club was a great success. A huge THANK YOU to Larry Becker for negotiating a great price and for setting the pairings and hole assignments. Well done Larry! Now, let's begin working on the next "road trip." One more thing: It's time to start thinking about tossing your hat in the ring! Elections for your Board of Directors will be upon us in early November. We'll be forming an election committee in October, and volunteers are needed. From our Membership Chair Chaz McManis: We have a new member, Carl Hayner. Welcome Carl, to the club! From the Tournament Chair Elliot Yaeger: The Founder's Cup Match Pay began on Aug. 30, with the continuation of the tournament into September. The September schedule is as follows: Thurs., Sept. 1 at 7:30 am: Founder's Cup – Match Play Semi Finals Others Play Low Net Tues., Sept. 6 at 7:30 am: Founder's Cup – Match Play Finals 1st & 2nd + 3rd & 4th Place Matches, Others Will Play Low Net, ALSO 9 HOLE TOURNAMENT Tues., Sept. 13 at 7:30 am: Team: One, Two, Three Best Net Scores Tues., Sept. 20 at 7:30 am: Individual Low Net Tues., Sept. 27 at 7:30 am: Partners Best Net Score per Hole There will be a new starting time of 8 am beginning in October. We have a few people interested in playing horseshoes. There is a horseshoe league that plays on Wednesday mornings at 8 am at different locations around Hemet. We practice Saturdays at 8 am. Horseshoes Billiards Join us every Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 pm for friendly play. Our Four Seasons Hemet Valley Interpark Pool League practices will be Tuesday morning from 9 am to noon. If you have any questions, please call Art Martel at (909) 973-8208. Tennis is thriving at Four Seasons Hemet, with the courts being used most mornings. Mondays and Fridays see a preponderance of ladies, however any gentlemen wishing to play are welcome and there are some regulars. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the preponderance is gentlemen, however a few ladies play too! The bottom line is, if you have been thinking about playing, PLEASE JOIN IN on whichever day(s) fit your schedule. Of course the courts are available whenever The Lodge is open, and there are lights for nighttime play. There is a ball machine for folks to practice with. Let The Lodge attendant know a day ahead if you would like to use the ball machine, and they will ensure it is charged and will bring it to the court for you. Our weather provides near perfect conditions year round. Come hone your skills, and enjoy the camaraderie of Four Seasons tennis! Tennis Club Interest Group Pet Owners: Four Seasons has many pet owners. I think it would be nice to have a Pet Owners Group to meet once a month to share information about vets, groomers, food, treats, medical issues, pet sitters, and walkers. We may be able to get guest speakers, such as veterinarians, to share important information. If you're interested, please email me your name and phone number to HawkRealtyCA@msn. com or call (760) 519-3449. Thanks! ~ Karen Hirschman
