Welcome, Pumpkin Spice Season! I might need to enjoy the first few on ice as the temperatures are not "fall-like" yet. I think September is a month that catches us by surprise. Mentally we are prepared for fall, but September can have some of the hottest days of summer. I have had the pleasure to mix with more residents the last few months, some of you are long time residents of the San Jacinto Valley and many of you found your way from San Diego, Los Angeles, across the country, even Canada. We have a beautiful valley; I really enjoy my commute home after work when I am traveling east on Devonshire and can see the bowl of the valley. Being part of a community has been invaluable to my life. Just the other day I was driving in town and passed a neighbor; I never leave the Sizzler without seeing a friendly face or two. It is a long running joke amongst my family that I know somebody everywhere I go. The truth is… I talk to strangers. I like to share a smile or a quick hello with the people I share space with. Except if you see me reading my book, a quick smile will suffice. I digress. I want to start a section sharing local points of interest and history. I would love some help. If any of the long-time residents would like to contribute, please contact me. Part of my job is to look after the master calendar and room usage. I completely understand that your schedule is important and you value the time set aside to come to a game or function, and having a change in your schedule can be upsetting. I try to choose the path of least resistance; if I can avoid canceling a function, I will. Unfortunately, a single resident can experience this on more than one occasion a week if they belong to many clubs. I appreciate the flexibility. In an HOA, there is a policy for everything. Here is a little reminder from our Recreational Club Policy on room use: At any time, due to Association business, the Board of Directors reserves the right to pre-empt a Club space. The Activities Director will notify the Club as soon as possible if preemption is to occur. The order of priority for room reservations is: 1. Board of Directors 2. Booked Private Events 3. Committee meetings 4. Club Meeting/Events You can obtain the complete policy at the front desk. All work talk and no play gets boring, so let's talk about this Luau! I hope you have your tickets because OHANA is going to be a blast! Music on the Plaza is going to be super fun with this all female classic rock band. We are getting close to the end of the series. So, I guess we should continue to talk about the holidays coming up… Okay next month. 4 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | SEPTEMBER 2022 | From Your Activities Director By Tracie Rodgers BINGO APPRECIATION There is a spoken rule around Four Seasons: "You don't mess with Bingo." These volunteers gather each week to bring a special kind of entertainment to the community. Due to the licensing, a small percentage of the general public are able to come and enjoy the game ,helping the pots grow. When we started to hear about some new virus in 2020, it was first the canceling of Bingo, and second, the closing of Disneyland that really had the impact of how serious things were getting. A day later we were closing the whole Lodge. When was Bingo returning was probably the most asked question for the next 18 months. Bingo is a serious sport; it is even an entry in the Valley-Wide Oldlympics. More serious are the players as they are very concerned about the seating and the collection of lucky charms they keep with them. If you are a Bingo volunteer, you are probably very familiar with all the interesting personalities of Bingo. From the leadership to the check-in people, you are appreciated for a job well-done. We Appreciate Committee Volunteers Interested in Sign Languages Classes? Stay tuned for more news! Veterans - Mark your calendars! If you're interested in getting a Veterans club organized to support city events, join us Mon., Sept. 5 at 2 pm in the Ballroom.
