When you read this article, the fall season
will have begun and we'll be enjoying cooler
weather. With that, sometime during the
month of October, we will change the playing
time for shuffleboard from an early 8 am to
a more reasonable 9 am. An email notice
of this change will be sent out to all of the
people on the shuffleboard roster. Starting
last month, we transitioned our play to the
four newly built courts at The Lodge behind
the swimming pool and next to the paddle
tennis courts at the site of the old horseshoe
pits. As of this writing, we are still in need of
a storage unit to store our equipment, more
benches, a trash can, some umbrellas and
perhaps an outdoor table. I am working on
obtaining these items for the new location.
Shuffleboard is the perfect activity to
enjoy outdoors while being physically
active. It is an easy game to learn and one
can become proficient at playing this fairly
quickly. We play shuffleboard on Monday
and Saturday mornings and our games
usually last about an hour. We choose
different teams every time we play. This
allows us to keep competition challenging
and the games interesting. We play for fun,
but, of course, everyone likes to win. We have
a great group of residents, who play regularly,
and of course, we are always looking for new
people to join our "shuffleboard family." So
after your morning coffee and/or breakfast,
come out and join us. Get some fresh air and
a little exercise while socializing with other
residents.
