4 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2022 | DID YOU KNOW? DID YOU KNOW? DID YOU KNOW we have had several incidents of homeless and others coming onto our private property and taking things out through holes in the chain link fences, which we continue to repair and they continue to cut? If you see any activity like this, please call 911 first and then call Securitas. Do NOT approach or interact with anyone – that is NOT your responsibility! And it could be dangerous. It IS your responsibility to call 911 first, then call Securitas. Program both of those numbers into your phone and use them. DID YOU KNOW the Restaurant, Lounge, and Sandwedge are all OPEN? • The Sandwedge is open Tuesday through Saturday as early as 7 am. Come in for breakfast! • The Restaurant is open Wednesday through Saturday at 11 am and even earlier on Sunday at 9 am. On Sunday, breakfast is offered all day. • The Lounge is open on Tuesdays now at 3 pm and is serving cocktails and food from the Lounge menu. Wednesday through Sunday the Lounge opens at 11 am. • PLUS Monday Night Football is in the Lounge which opens at 4:30 pm. Come in every Monday to cheer on your team and enjoy a drink plus all your favorite football party appetizers. With these three locations up and running, we now have food and beverage service available six days a week and are actively working towards making that seven. Come down and enjoy! Our Community Awareness Program is focused on keeping our community safe and to notify the proper authorities to resolve issues. We want to stay vigilant, keep an eye on our community, and provide presentations to keep you informed. At our Aug. 31 meeting, Dr. Karan P. Singh, Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director of Emergency at San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital gave an informative talk on the updating of San Gorgonio Hospital. Please check channel 97 to see the program. Our Community Awareness Program for channel 97 is aired Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9 to 10:30 am and 1:30 to 3 pm. Banning Police Department, Chief Matt Hamner gave a brief update on problems facing the police department. If you have specific questions, please contact the police department at the non- emergency number (951) 922-3170. However, if you see something suspicious, please dial 911. Program for October The date is Oct. 24 from 1 to 3 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Our guest speaker will be Linda Hanley, VP/Financial Services Officer from The Bank of Hemet. She is also bringing Elisia Marcelino who is their VP/BSA officer who sees all the scams that are out there. Linda Hanley will also have two law enforcement officials that bring expertise to this presentation. Their presentation will be on current frauds and scams and how to avoid being a victim. Please make time to attend. Also present will be an Officer or the Chief of Police from the Banning Police Department and Mike Romero, Director of Securitas. SECURITY & PREVENTION TIPS: An open garage is an open invitation! Oftentimes, burglars and thieves will case a neighborhood, specifically looking for open garage doors. Please make sure you keep your garage doors closed at all times. Doors with glass panels or adjacent windows! It is simple for a thief to break glass panels and then reach in and open a doorknob from the inside. Such doors need to be secured with deadbolts that can only be opened with a key. Tools! To keep your tools from being stolen, paint the handles. Thieves avoid items that are easy to identify. When you are away! If you are going to be away from home for several days – or even just one day – adjust your telephone ring to its lowest volume. An unanswered phone is a quick tip that your home is empty. Keep your car keys closer to you! Avoid putting them close to your way out. Instead, have them within your reach. You can put them on your bedside table, so if you hear or feel that an intruder is in your garage, you can quickly hit on the key fob to scare them off with your car alarm. PLEASE REPORT ANY SUSPICIOUS INDIVIDUALS, ACTIVITIES AND THEFTS DIRECTLY TO BANNING POLICE DEPARTMENT, CALL 911! If anyone is interested in becoming part of our steering committee, our next meeting will be on Oct. 3 from 1 to 2:30 pm in the Bus Room. Hope to see everyone on Oct. 24. Let's all be informed and stay safe. For more information please contact Michele Walter, (951) 202-8009 or email crystalwater@dc.rr.com. Community Awareness Program
