| OHCC LIVING | OCTOBER 2022 | 35 The Papercrafting Club sends its best to all of you this month! As I write this, it is September, and we're slogging through the hottest days of summer. But on the bright side for us papercrafters, we get to stay cool indoors and enjoy more time for Papercrafting. But as you read this, most likely the days have gotten cooler, maybe a little shorter too, and fall is in the air. Perhaps some pumpkins, scarecrows, and other symbols of nature's harvest are finding their way onto your front porch. And maybe your favorite family recipes are being dusted off for a day of baking. What I enjoy most about this time of year, is making cards that have a harvest and autumn theme. It's also a time when I break out my orange, purple, and black cardstock to make some cute and spooky Halloween cards, always enjoyed by my family, especially my grandchildren. While I love it here in Ocean Hills, I still miss seeing the little kids coming to my door in search of some sweet loot. The Papercrafting Club is in full swing, making new cards each week and enjoying each other's company and creations. Speaking of creations have you all seen the Papercrafting displays at the Clubhouse? If not, you have to go have a look. In the gallery wing, just past the offices, you'll see the wooden and glass armoire filled with handmade items from some of the OHCC clubs. There, on one of the upper shelves, you'll see some of our best Papercrafting creations on display. And across the hall, in the art room, feast your eyes on the shadowbox displays of paper craft items and cards made by individuals in our club. They are situated all around the room so be sure to take the time to admire them all. Take it from someone who loves making and receiving cards; there are 100s of reasons this month to send a card to someone you love, care about or who you'd like to cheer up or celebrate this month. Go ahead and think of someone who's day you'd like to brighten or someone who hasn't heard from you for a while, and get a card out to them. Spread the joy an unexpected note can bring. Maybe someone is celebrating a birthday or anniversary this month and isn't expecting anyone to remember. Or you can surprise your family members by sharing a Halloween card with a spooktastic message! There's always someone waiting and wanting to hear from you. Make someone's day. Send a card. Send two! As I do each month, I want to wish our Club's October babies a very happy birthday. May your celebrations be filled with the people you love and the joy of beginning your next journey around the sun. Thinking of you; Jaime Albano, Tatis Cervantez, Elaine Santi, Allison Stewart, and Jackie Windes. Here's wishing you all the best this autumn season. Some special days in October to look forward to, (and perhaps good reasons to send cards) are: National Dessert Day, Columbus Day, World Teachers Day, World Card Making Day, Butterfly and Hummingbird Day, National Golf Lovers Day, and of course Halloween! More special, fun, and crazy reasons to celebrate in October can be found at womansday.com; search October holidays. Until next month, here's wishing you all a wonderful October. Keep on crafting my friends! ~ Debbie Cea Papercrafting Club Papercrafting on display in the gallery, Art room frames 1, and Art room frames 2
