10 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2023 By Rhonda Louden For a good time, call either one of the Rohrbackers. Dave and Janine moved into their second house in the community just down the street from our new home more than three years ago. Janine had already started a line dancing class but their first event in our new neighborhood was organizing a street party—before they had even moved in, bringing together brand new neighbors from two streets. Next they dragged us all over to Songbird for a street party that included a potluck and lawn chair volleyball. They even threw one last party at their old house and included their new neighbors. They were a two-person newcomers club who were responsible for showing nervous newbies how to enjoy our new community. You see it over and over again as they make new people feel comfortable through Step It Up line dance classes three times a week, Barn Burner dances for the entire community, and karaoke twice a month. They have hosted two fun Super Bowl potluck parties at The Lodge, before and after Covid. During Covid, they worked overtime coming up with ideas to provide us with social events while we stayed distant and safe. We had zoom craft classes, Driveway Bingo, and socially-distanced street dancing in the cul-de-sac. They planned golf cart outings to nearby drive-through restaurants where we enjoyed our dinners in each other's company in the park. Dave assumed the leadership role for karaoke when we opened back up after Covid. He added a second day a month because it drew so many singers as well as a large audience. He makes it extra fun with theme nights such as Halloween and Jammieoke. Janine makes it even more fun by coordinating line dances to the songs people choose. And all that was before Dave retired. Since his retirement, a few months ago, he has really stepped up his activities. His DJ services are in demand at many events including the recent Walk For the Animals and the Veterans Day Car Show. Why are they motivated to do all these things? For Janine and Dave, Four Seasons is a very special place to live and they look forward to spending many more years of fun with the awesome people in this community while learning and trying new things.
