Jack & Jill By Dennis Murphy, 951-461-0457 It was a great day on the links for May's J&J Tournament. On May 11, eleven foursomes took to the Cal Oaks GC with a shotgun start to compete for first place position in the "Regular Scramble" competition. The weather was cool at tee time and didn't really warm up until 17 holes were completed, then the sun broke through and really warmed things up. This was a spirited event with 11 strokes between the first-place team and the last team's scorecard. When the tournament was over, the following posted winning positions for the contest: Winning Teams 1st: 43.426, Joe Cwirka, Marge Anderson, Rich Brown and Laurie Freres 2nd: 44.031, Jerry and Pat Caldera, Bill and Susan Connelly 3rd: 46.628, Joe Jaramillo, Lisa Schrader, Leo Pasco and Peggy Clendenen 4th: 47.425, Henry Wurangian, Paula Thompson, Malcolm Grant and Sue Jordan Closest to the Pin #5: Women, Vicki Cornille – 11'3" / Men, Ken Kawamura – 14'8" #15: Women, Anita Hoetker – 8'4" / Men, Leo Pasco – 8'2" #16: Team #18, Gary Wilson, Linda Peterson, Mike and Leigh Tsumura – 21' The Darwin Award went unclaimed in May. The next contest is set for Thursday, July 13, and it will be a "Regular Scramble" event. As with all Jack and Jill events, you DO NOT have to be a member of either the Men's or Women's Golf Clubs to play. Just pick up your sticks and join us for the fun and friendly competition.
