4 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2023 | DID YOU KNOW that SLCC owns a drone? Indeed! It is usually operated by Hernan Rojas, our AV/Communications specialist and is the "eye in the sky" for many of our events. For example, Hernan was able to get footage of the Pickleball tournament during Charity Week as well as the Monster Scramble on the Executive Course. Many of the beautiful photos you see on our website are shots taken by this drone. DID YOU KNOW that string or rope lighting may be used on the rear patio, all year round? If you love the lighting that's on our Veranda, you too may have lighting like that on your backyard patio. The trick comes in how it is hung. This lighting must be placed on the interior of the patio cover and the wire cannot be visible. It cannot be hung as a swag or draping, but has to be affixed to the patio cover, like has been done on the Veranda. You may also put up rope lighting and it, too, must be fixed to the patio cover. These lights must also be white for year-round decoration. As with any changes you plan to do to the outside of your home, please fill out the Home Improvement form – it's available in the Admin Office or on the website under Community Info/Planning & Compliance/Applications & Info - and submit it to Edgar Lagunas in the Planning & Compliance Department. It will then go to the Master Architect Committee for approval. They meet on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month and are able to address your request in a timely matter. By Beverly Simmons, Master Board 2nd Vice-President DID YOU KNOW? DID YOU KNOW that the new glassware in the Lounge, including wine glasses, beer glasses and those really cute martini glasses we introduced a few months ago are "disappearing?" This "vanishing act" is partially caused by breakage. The Restaurant & Lounge has a Breakage Log recording every glass that is broken or cracked and must be thrown away. But that doesn't account for all the missing glasses. They seem to disappear into the void and then we have to order more, which goes to the bottom line of Restaurant & Lounge profitability. So, when you are ready to leave but are not finished with your drink, please ask for a plastic cup for your beverage, and leave your glass on the table. Thanks for helping us maintain our glassware inventory!
