Our group is still looking for and anxious to have new people join the Actors Studio. Joining us is a perfect way of learning more about the theatrical experience in either an acting role or one of the many opportunities behind the scenes or in promotional, designing, hosting and non-speaking roles. By doing so, you may find that the theater experience is not as overwhelming as you might have thought, and that we have lots of laughs and fun during the whole process. So don't be shy; come to one of our workshops from 4 to 6 pm in the Card Room on the second ursday (Sept. 14) and the fourth ursday (Sept. 28) of each month. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call Greg Hill at 951-526-9896, or Chuck Gordon at 661-714-3847. We hope you came to the Chorus Meet & Greet on August 30 and felt welcomed — and even encouraged — to join us. Who are we? e Chorus is a fun social group that likes to entertain neighbors and friends. We share the joy of gathering to li our voices in song in our two concerts — our spring one at the end of April, and the Christmas concert the first weekend of December. Our director, Lorilee Bajema, is a talented musician and experienced conductor, and keeps us laughing with her wit and droll humor. Somehow, she also stretches our musical wings, making us better singers. Our pianist and percussion accompanists are also top notch. What do we sing? It is an eclectic mix — from Haydn to Irving Berlin, Beach Boys and the Animals, to Broadway and the movies. Our songs may be familiar favorites or fascinating new tunes. Song arrangements are creative, and there are solo and ensemble opportunities. When do we rehearse? Our new season starts on ursday, Sept. 7, in the Auditorium from 9 to 11:15 am, with the kickoff rehearsal for the Christmas concert. Its performances will be on Saturday, Dec. 2, and Sunday, Dec. 3, and its theme, "By Dickens, We're Scrooged," is one which provides a different take on Christmas music. Who is welcome to join us? Anyone who likes to sing! No auditions. e Chorus is especially in need of male voices, which includes women whose voices are pitched in the male voice range. For recent concerts, half of the tenor section have been women. Is there a cost? We do have membership dues — $25 per concert season to cover the expenses of music, conductor and accompanists, decorations, and social events. Dues should be paid by check made out to e Colony Chorus. Come join your neighbors to "sing like the angels—or at least the birdies — sing!"
