| THE COLONY NEWS | SEPTEMBER 2023 | 25 It was another wild "walk in the park" outing for the August Colony Couples 2Ball event. We faced warm temperatures, but Mother Nature was good to us by providing breezes of 4-7mph to keep us cool (well, comfortable at least). Congrats to all the players for a fun aernoon on the links as well as to the winners of the competition. If you have interest, give me a call, or drop an email to dmurph44@vrizon.net and I will send you a 2023 tournament schedule (first ursday aernoon of the month) and rules of the game and include you in our active mailing list. Our next contest is set for ursday, Sept. 7. Requirements are to be able to grasp a club! Being a member of the Men's or Women's Golf Club is not required. Just pick up some sticks and join us for a friendly aernoon of fun. We look forward to hearing from you. See ya on the links! Colony Couples 2Ball By Dennis Murphy, 951-461-0457 Men's Golf By Sam Currie, 951-461-0801 Dare I say it, it's been hot! Maybe a little too hot for some of us golfers, but not all. anks to our Tournament Director, Greg Griffes, bringing changes by varying the format of play each week, he has kept the game interesting, which has enticed us to come out and play a game of golf despite the heat. So, job well done and thanks, Greg. One of the formats Greg introduced was to include a "low putts" contest within many of our games, and this has proved particularly popular and very competitive! One of the better performances was achieved this month by Ron Brown, with a low putts of 26. Extremely good, but still not enough to challenge our reigning Low Putts Champion Mel Rich, who had a score of 24 last year – amazing! is is going to take some beating. Considering the weather, I should give a shout-out to the golf course staff, who has done a great job managing course conditions with the fairways and especially the greens, keeping them in very playable condition. Some of the tees certainly need a little work but overall, most definitely an improvement. Why not join us and become a member of the CMGC? Contact George Herrera, 760-533-0350, for membership information. Unfortunately, the publisher missed this important photo in the August Colony News. Congratulations to Kaitlyn Carrillo from Murrieta Mesa High School, the recipient of the CMGC's 2023 Scholarship Award! August Winners
