| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | OCTOBER 2023 | 9 Our many mature trees are a major reason why Four Seasons is such a welcoming and beautiful place to live. Not only do they add beauty, but trees also have the power to make our lives better and healthier: • By absorbing carbon dioxide, trees slow the buildup of the main cause of climate warming • Landscapes with trees reduce our anxiety as we walk through and beneath them • Trees (and plants) filter harmful pollution • Trees provide homes to our wildlife — both feathered and furry • A natural air conditioner, trees provide much needed shade and cooling If you have a mature tree that needs trimming, it's a good idea to do some homework first. Aer all, a tree is a major landscape investment that can either add – or detract from your home's value. First, find a professional Nurseryman or Arborist. Tree trimming is half science, half art. Finding a qualified individual to do the work may take some time and effort. Discuss your desired outcome before hiring them. ey should be able to let you know the best way to trim the tree – and let you know if there are any problems. Don't be fooled by inexpensive tree trimmers. Initially, the companies that top or severely prune a tree are less expensive than hiring a professional. But they do severe harm to the tree including: • Drastically reducing foliage to the point where a tree can't produce food to stay alive and thrive • Exposing tender interior bark causing sun damage • Weakening the tree so that Insects and disease can gain a foothold • Setting up the conditions for weak/leggy return grown Once you top a tree, it seldom regains its beauty and shape — and its value to your property is lost. When trimmed correctly, your tree will grow back properly and won't need to be trimmed as oen. For comparison, the beautiful pines that grow on Four Seasons Blvd. and World Cup are on a three-year trimming rotation to keep them healthy. Visitors to Four Seasons oen comment about the beauty and pleasant atmosphere. It is our duty to keep it that way! We'd like to extend a warm welcome to our newest committee member Linda Vargas. We applaud her community spirit and thank her for volunteering. Landscape Committee Always have a qualified professional trim your trees Remember the date: Oct. 19 is the CERT Great ShakeOut BBQ!
