Golf Club From the Rules Chair, Bill Swinney: Did you Know? Practice Swing Penalty: Should your ball accidentally fall off the tee when preparing to hit a tee shot there is no penalty (rule 6.2b). Also, should you accidentally make contact with your ball while making a practice putt (or any other unintended contact) while the ball is on the green, there is no penalty (rule 13.1d). You simply replace the ball to its previous position. However, should you make contact with your ball during a practice swing anywhere else on the course including bunkers and penalty areas, you still have not made a stroke but you will be assessed a one stroke penalty for causing your ball to move while in play (rule 9.4). e ball is moved back to its original position. From the Social Chair, Meredith Becker: We are looking forward to recruiting new golf members or social golf members on Sept. 23 at the Open House up at e Lodge. Also, mark your calendars for a "Sock Hop" on Fri., Oct. 20! More details will follow. From the Secretary, Irene Becker: It is that time of year again, elections for the new Board for 2024 are upon us. We are looking for volunteers to be a part of the Nomination Committee, as well as volunteers for the next year's Board. e current Board has given countless hours to running the Golf Club and are looking forward for new leaders to join the Board. Fresh faces and eyes are needed to see what we do best and bring in new ideas for our club. ank you for taking the time to volunteer for the Nomination Committee and the Board for 2024! From the Tournament Chair, Elliot Yaeger: Tuesday play will start at 8 am beginning in October. e October schedule is as follows: Oct. 3, 8 am: Partners Best Net Score per Hole Oct. 10, 8 am: Low Net Qualifying Round for Club Championship - 8 per flight Oct. 17, 8 am: Club Championship - Best 2 out of 3 Rounds - Round 1 Others: Low Net Oct. 24, 8 am: Club Championship - Round 2 Others Play Low Net Oct. 26, urs., 8 am: Club Championship - Round 3 Others Play Low Net Oct. 31, 8 am: Team Scramble | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | OCTOBER 2023 | 27 Save e Date: Halloween Golf Cart Parade Evening of Sunday, Oct. 29 • Meet in front of e Lodge e parade will start at 6:30 pm on Sun., Oct. 29. We will start lining up at 6 pm. Decorate your cart in a Halloween motif and, if you like, put on a scary costume (not required), and join us for a fun night. Guests welcome! We will follow the Fourth of July route, minus the cul de sacs. It should take 40-45 minutes. Come out and you will be bedazzled by the carts. Have some Halloween fun! More information to follow. Watch for Tracie's blasts and map. Flag Angels: e Flag Angels were back in action aer a bit of a lull during August. Flags were posted by the Angels for the Labor Day celebration on all the streets, and they are scheduled to be posted for Patriots Day (Sept. 11) for Four Seasons and World Cup only. If you see the Flag Angel pin/hat (at right), you should know that a Flag Angel is wearing it; be sure to thank them for their tireless work! Two Flag Angels, Maggie and Ed Coleman, have had to hang up their wings. ey have been terrific Flag Angels for a long time. ank you, Ed and Maggie. Hank Schultz, a Flag Angel substitute, has stepped forward and volunteered to fill the gap. Hank has been posting flags for quite some time as a substitute. Ginny Cole-Weaver is back on her route aer she was unable to post flags for quite a while. Welcome back Ginny! Missed you! As you can see from the above, I can always use additional volunteers to serve as backups to the Flag Angels.
