| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | DECEMBER 2023 | 31 Golf Club From the Social Chair, Meredith Becker: It seems that everyone enjoyed the October Sock-Hop! e attire was amazing, from saddle shoes to ponytails! e Social Committee had a wonderful 50s meal consisting of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, peas and carrots and even a brownie all served in aluminum TV dinner trays! Music was played and some even danced and we ended the evening with root beer floats! Look for information on the club's first social activity in January. And a favorite of mine… "May your stuffing be tasty, may your turkey be plump, May your potatoes 'n gravy have nary a lump, May your yams be delicious, may your pies take the prize, May your anksgiving dinner stay off of your thighs!" From the Rules Chair, Bill Swinney: Did you Know? Rule 13 Putting Greens Rule 13 is a specific rule for putting greens. For instance, when is your ball deemed to be on the putting green? Rule 13A states that your ball is on the putting green when any part of it: Touches the putting green or lies on or in anything (such as a loose impediment or an obstruction) and is inside the edge of the putting green. is rule is important since you are now able to li and clean your ball as well as not suffer a penalty stoke should you accidentally move your ball. From the Secretary, Irene Becker: Congratulations to our winners of our Club Champions Tournament Held in October: Javier Parada – Champion: Gross Score Ron Hulme – Champion: Net Score At this writing we anticipate a new Board for our Golf Club beginning in January. We want to thank those members who have volunteered to lead the club in 2024. President: Mike Caldwell Vice President: Bob Morriss Secretary: Mike McLaughlin Treasurer: Linda Morriss On behalf of the Board for 2023, thank you for your support during the last year. We have appreciated those members who stepped up to help us out with a shout out to everyone who helped with weekly games and social events. ank you. From the Tournament Chair, Elliot Yaeger: e December schedule is as follows: Dec. 5, 8 am - Partners Best Net 9 hole Best Net Front or Back Dec. 12, 8 am - Team: Take One Score on odd holes and Two Scores on Even Holes ALSO 9 HOLE TOURNAMENT Dec. 19, 8 am - Individual Low Net Dec. 26, 8 am - Partners: 1-2: One Score on Odd Holes, 2 Scores on Even Holes Halloween Golf Cart Parade: e parade was held on Oct. 29; we had a lighter turnout than last year, but the quality of the decorations was amazing. e pre-parade crowd that came down to see the carts was the best that I have seen. It gave a festive atmosphere to the parade. e Weakleys lead the parade through the community. anks Dave and Char! As usual Tracie Rodgers was an immense help, especially her blasts and postings. Stella Torres, Debbie Frazier, and Donna McLaughlin staffed the Welcome Table and provided Halloween doughnuts and Champagne and orange juice (see the picture on your right). Donna McLaughlin also decorated e Lodge in a Halloween motif with a big assist from Tim Gross our handy man. Flag Angels: e Flag Angels put out flags throughout the community for Indigenous Peoples Day; the first time that flags were posted for the new holiday (Oct. 9). e flags are scheduled to be posted for Veterans Day Nov. 11 for all residences and World Cup and Four Seasons. If you see the Flag Angel pin/hat, you should know that a Flag Angel is wearing it; be sure to thank them for their tireless work! I can always use additional volunteers to serve as backups when a Flag Angel cannot post their flags. Cheryle Patterson is subbing for Veterans Day; she has been a life saver throughout the year.
