SPOTLIGHT:
CARL KREUN
Carl Kreun is another of the creative residents living at Four Seasons.
He and his wife, Julie, had wintered in Hemet, from South Dakota for
years before deciding to make Four Seasons their permanent home in
2015.
Although Carl has always been good at sketching and drawing since
his high school years, he found his gi for painting later in life. At a family gathering his
daughter, a teacher, brought out some canvases and paints and encouraged her dad to give
it a try. Carl found that he had a natural knack for painting.
He went on to take classes here at Four Seasons from several teachers, including Royce
Jerman and later Lois Stipp. e beautiful landscapes and animal paintings he does are all
done in acrylic. Carl has now been painting for about seven years, and has given each of his
four children as well as most of his six grandchildren pieces of his art. What a precious gi!
Besides painting, Carl also makes beautiful otter letter openers from exotic hardwood.
He sells these at cra fairs and other events. Each is unique and a real piece of functional
art.
Nowadays, besides his wood carving and painting, Carl finds cooking as a creative outlet.
He enjoys taking a recipe and making it his own by changing it up. ere are many ways
for us to express our creative spirit!
e Art Group: Royce Jerman offers "Painting Pals" on Tuesdays
from 10 am to 1 pm and "Beading Buddies" on Wednesdays from
10 am to 1 pm in the Arts and Cras Room at e Lodge. No
experience is necessary and all levels are welcome. Her contact

Paint and Sip Night: Please come join Alison on Mon., Jan. 15
at 5 pm for our "Paint and Sip" class. I will guide you through the
process. e class fee is $35 which will include all supplies. You
just bring your wine (or beverage of your choice) and an open
mind.
