We all know that it's getting darker much earlier now. But, did you know that when it's dark at 5 pm and you are walking, that you and your dog are almost impossible to see? Many of us have winter clothing and jackets in dark, muted tones which makes it even harder for others to see us until we walk under a streetlight – or get caught in the headlights of a car. Same thing goes for your dogs that are walking with you. Here are a couple of ideas to help you be seen at night. • Take a flashlight! Keep it pointed at the ground to let people know you are there. • Wear reflective clothing or at least something light in color. • Buy doggie sweaters that are reflective or light in color. • Be aware of your surroundings and make sure others can see you. Have a Safe and Happy New Year! 4 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2024 | By Beverly Simmons, Master Board 2nd Vice-President DID DID YOU YOU KNOW??? KNOW??? The Event Steering Committee for the Sun Lakes Charitable Trust is excited to begin the New Year with a glimpse into some fun new changes for 2024 and a peek at our Charity Weekend schedules for the year. We were able to give our local charities more than $84K in 2023 and this year we are raising the bar even further. We begin with another English Garden Party Tea on March 9. If you have a chance to buy tickets to this popular event, be sure to grab them. It's a really special way to spend an afternoon. Next, on April 12-14, we will have a full weekend of events that celebrate the Masters Tournament in Augusta. This includes a Friday night Green Jacket Affair, a Saturday Monster Scramble, and the popular Sunday at Augusta. The weekend of June 7-9 we will have many of our tried-and- true events from past Charity Weeks and we will be introducing a brand new event the weekend of Sept. 27-29, as well as our very popular Fashion Show. Stay tuned to this article each month for additional information about ticket sales and event details. Happy New Year! Did you know that you can find a community map on our website with a grid that shows all 23 Districts? It's quite handy during garage sale season. You will find this under Community Info/Reports and Forms. It's in the middle of the page and says "Community Map with Grid." Also, at the bottom of that same page is the Securitas Monthly Narrative and Analytical Report. The Analytical report is a review of activities that are reported to Securitas based on the number of incidents, location, time, and date. The Monthly Narrative is a briefing that provides more detail and helps identify recurring issues. Did you know that there is a Resident Request Form available that you may fill out to report maintenance, safety concerns, or other issues you feel need attention? This form is available in the Main Clubhouse flyer racks, next to the receptionist and in the Administrative office's forms rack. Some of the categories you may choose from are landscape maintenance, common area concerns, recreation facilities, and so forth. There's a space for you to explain your concern, such as a machine in the South Clubhouse gym is not working, make a suggestion, or request. Turn your completed form in at the receptionist desk in the lobby or to the receptionist in the Administration office for further action. Sun Lakes Country Club Charitable Trust
