16 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2024 | There has been increased collaboration recently between Banning Police Department (BPD) and Securitas. Security has observed a heightened presence of BPD inside Sun Lakes patrolling various districts. This adds to our overall security and can provide residents with some peace of mind. Director Mike Romero of Securitas invites residents to visit our Main Gate office and ask for him or Lt. Roman to open up communication on safety and to educate new residents on Rules and Regulations here at SLCC. They can be contacted at (951) 845- 2163. They will cover essential security topics such as fire safety precautions, package delivery safety, and effective ways to safeguard our homes. Review and Reminders 1. The maximum speed limit in Sun Lakes is 25 mph and this is on Country Club Drive and Glen Eagles Drive. On all other streets the speed limit is 20 mph. In the sub-Associations, the speed limit is 15 mph. PLEASE OBSERVE THESE SPEED LIMITS. 2. Please observe traffic safety by stopping at all stop signs. 3. When driving, be aware of the many pedestrians we have here in Sun Lakes. Many residents have jogging or walking routines. Be a defensive driver and keep safety in mind at all times. 4. Dog owners, please keep your pets on a leash when walking. We don't want any accidents. Also, be courteous and pick up after your dog. 5. Keep your garage doors closed. The only time your garage door should be open is when you are working in the garage. 6. There are over 3,300 homes here in Sun Lakes. Try always to be vigilant and mindful of your neighbors. If you see something, say something. By working together we can make this community as safe as possible. Safety Advisory Sun Lakes Committee Reports The Finance Committee was established to review and analyze ALL financial matters and then advise and make recommendations to the Board. Everything from breakfast at the Sandwedge to entertainment in the evening has a financial impact on the community. A fully- functional Finance Committee should also be tasked to review expenditures and purchases for the Board in order for them to make the best decision for the community. In January and February, our subcommittee will be reviewing the Reserve Plan for 2024 and the investment structure which funds Repair and Replacement expenses. We have recommended to the Board and management a calendar reflecting the expenses and maturity of investments. This would assist them in their planning and ensure monthly meetings with the FAC subcommittee and the management staff would be best industry practice. Our subcommittee on Food and Beverage will be closely monitoring the budget for this department and reporting to the board the differences and recommending some options if necessary. Again, best industry practices would be to have established policies and procedures in place that are followed. We are also asking to receive specifics on the profitability of the various special events that are recurring. Some of our other tasks will be to review the financial impact of the FirstService contract and prepare a year end financial report for the Board with comparisons to previous year finances. We want to assist the Board's efforts and remain committed to being an asset to the Master Board. We trust they will recognize and rely on the advice and recommendations that we present. We stand ready to help the Master Board maintain and improve the financial management of our community. Our meetings are held the third Wednesday of the month at 2 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room and we encourage residents to attend. We welcome your questions and concerns. The next meeting will be Feb. 21. If you would like to join our committee, please fill out an application and submit to the Admin office or to one of our committee members. Financial Advisory
