In the popular "Pick Your Own Foursome" event, 56 golfers participated in the competition, which is always spirited because the players for the teams are handpicked. Winning Teams "A" Flight 1st: 44.038, George Herrera, Connie Vanderbyl, Bruce Ray and Laurie Freres 2nd: 49.240, Bob Miller, Debbie Johnson, Bruce and Ann Hartwig 3rd: 50.268, Randy Meyer, Annette Lalicker, Robert and Denise Sturm "B" Flight 1st: 47.015, Terry Lundquist, Sue Jordan, Dan and Sheryl Beamish 2nd: 49.426, Joe Cwirka, Marge Anderson, Ken Kawamura and Bonnie Hinman 3rd: 51.016, Ron Brown, Judy Lebovitz, John and Jenny Funke Closest to the Pin #5: Women, Billie Denney – 19'2" / Men, Candy Pineiro – 9'1" #15: Women, Lauri Freres – 13'10" / Men, Dennis Murphy – 36" #16: Team #1B -- George Herrera, Connie Vanderbyl, Bruce Ray and Laurie Freres – 10'8" e Darwin Award went to "e Gang of Nine" – Dan and Sheryl Beamish, Candy Pineiro and Linda Tellez, Troy Townsand and Billie Denney, Bruce and Lori Dalfonso, and rounding up the nine, Bruce Smith. e issue was, aer "Fore" announced special pricing emails for a place at the banquet table (and at a 50% discount), the Gang still managed to pay full price for the J&J subsidized dinner. Bruce and Ann Hartwig were chosen as Mr. and Mrs. Jack and Jill to reign over our 2024 season. ey had been chosen as Ambassadors of the Jack and Jill Tournament Events during the 2023 season just completed. Our next contest, which is set for ursday, Feb. 8, will be our "A & B Format" competition with two flights of teams. As with all Jack and Jill events, you DO NOT have to be a member of either the Men's or Women's Golf Clubs to play. Just pick up your sticks and join us for the fun and friendly competition. DECEMBER WINNERS: Jack & Jill By Dennis Murphy, 951-461-0457 Ladies Golf By Judy Lebovitz, 951-461-0065 A new year is upon us again and the Ladies Golf Club is back swinging those clubs, wanting a good year of low scores. We started the year with our monthly luncheon, which was enjoyed by all. Our tournament chair handed out the awards for most birdies, chip-ins, most games played, and Ace of the Year. Our president, Sherry Roberts, won most improved for 2023. e Ace of the Year for the High Handicap was Pat Bailey and in a tie for Ace of the Year for the low handicap were Anita Hoetker and Debbie Johnson. Congratulations to all the winners! e Back Nine chair will present the awards to the back niners at the next meeting. Anita Hoetker, our Ringer chair, passed out the ringer money to the winners of the last quarter of 2023.
