FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2024 27 Facilities Committee Did you know Four Seasons Beaumont has a big birthday next year? We are celebrating our 20th year from when the first house closed in October 2005. Just like in our homes, things start breaking and need to be repaired or replaced over time. Unlike our homes, our facilities experience far more wear and tear. The Facilities Committee is tasked with ensuring our facilities are always working at 100 percent and when things are nearing their end of life, they are replaced. Repairing is always the first option, however, often this is not a possibility. Items on site that cost over $1,000 or have a lifespan of over one year are inventoried into our reserves. Reserves are in place to ensure we can replace items without passing a special assessment on to the residents. There is a continual f low of money both in and out of the reserves. For example, the billiards tables were an item recently replaced. The amount of $28,000 was paid via reserve funds. Currently, each month, $46.50 of your $283 assessment goes into reserves. So, breaking that down, with 1,853 homes, each month $86,164.50 is added to the reserves. Likewise, $1,033,974 is added yearly. As items are replaced, that item's time clock starts over, and we begin saving for the next time it needs to be replaced. In addition, our reserve funds are invested and accruing interest, also increasing the amount of money we have in reserve. Keeping our reserves fully funded, as well as our community looking like a resort, not only provides our residents with a wonderful place to live, but also keeps our home values up, something we all care about. The Facilities Committee is working on many projects this year and into 2025. They meet the second Wednesday of each month in the RCN building. Everyone is welcome to attend and see how things work their way from an idea to the Board of Directors for approval. ~ Kathy Craven Board Liasion to Facilities Social Committee We love our talented Social Committee Volunteers! Elaine Recchion (at left) started her career in the banking and finance industry where she stayed for more than 40 years. Her responsibility in various positions is where she developed her skills to manage workf low, develop people, and provide outstanding customer service. She conducted workshops, managed a difficult merger, and met sales goals. Her last assignment was Business Development Officer, managing the elite clients of an area for all their needs. Elaine retired in 2014 and then moved into Four Seasons in 2019. She has always been interested in all forms of art, design, and creating. She enjoys drawing, painting, cooking, and planning events. She has always loved creating f lower arrangements, both with silk and with real f lowers. She has done this for her church, work, and family. Elaine has even received awards from art associations for some of her watercolor paintings. She took over the decoration position in August of 2023 when Sherry Plamondon stepped down. Most recently she made all the center pieces with f lower arrangements for the Fashion Show, and the Gratitude Cake and Coffee afternoon to show all the volunteers and the models pictures of the Fashion Show. Debbie Jenkins (at left) has had many diverse career experiences, including working as a Certified EMT and in Medicare Marketing for Aetna Health Plans. Debbie even performed in a youth circus for a few years! She earned her AA and BA in Business Administration/Marketing from Crafton Hills College and Cal State San Bernardino. She transitioned her skills to the Event Planning and Design Industry. Her passion for event planning was sparked early. Debbie's career began in modeling, fashion shows, and bridal expos, where she started coordinating events. She recently joined the Four Seasons Social Committee. She was the co-chair of the Fashion Show. With her creative skills and experience, she changed the face of the Fashion Show. She was responsible for the entire design of the event. The models had to learn the choreography that she designed. Debbie changed the layout of the room to accommodate the residents a better view of the models and the clothes they were wearing.
