In July, our local sound and lighting guru, Greg Bennett (pictured below, left), presented two informative sessions about production, one on sound and one on lighting. He showcased several types of microphones and sound and lighting equipment needed for a performance, and doing so in a way we novices could understand. We encourage all of you who are interested in set design and construction to attend our upcoming workshop on Monday, Aug. 5 from 6 to 7 pm. On Monday, Aug. 26, we will have a presentation on make-up and costumes. On Monday, Aug. 5 from 7 to 8 pm, Chuck Gordon, our resident Director, will teach us about character development. On Aug. 26 from 7 to 8 pm his subject will be about character development. All of these sessions will take place in the Auditorium. See times listed above for each event. In July, Chuck had all of us play theatrical games and improv situations, and we laughed a lot while learning different and new acting techniques. We would love to have anyone join us who dreams of becoming an actor, or who has past acting experience and would like to refresh your techniques in giving an Academy Award performance! You are welcome to participate in both of Chuck's sessions in August and are encouraged to do so. Our next play will be in March 2025, and onstage rehearsals will begin right after the Players Theater Variety Show in October. If you have any questions, please contact Chuck Gordon at 661-714-3847 or Greg Hill at 951-526-9896. | THE COLONY NEWS | AUGUST 2024 | 31 Ticket sales for the 2024 Variety Show on Saturday, Oct. 12, and Sunday, Oct. 13, will be on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 10 to 11:30 am in the Annex, and also on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 10 to 11:30 am in the Annex.
