| OHCC LIVING | AUGUST 2024 | 39 Did you miss me last month? I apologize; life just seemed to happen and before I knew it, the calendar said it was July 6! Each month our articles for Ocean Hills Living must be submitted for review no later than the 6th of each month. Lisa, who edits our articles prior to sending them to the publisher even gave me an extra day, and I still couldn't get it done. However, I am back again. Did you miss the 40th Anniversary Bingo on May 11? Players were treated to not only cake and ice cream, but pretzels, nuts and various other snacks. Our players were well fed, and extremely well paid that evening. Each jackpot got an extra $40 added to celebrate our 40th anniversary. The winners had the Bingo Fairies to thank for their good luck. Bad Bart tried his best to steal back some of the gold, but between Miss Liberty and a liberal sprinkling of fairy dust, winners were everywhere. I think that some of that Fairy Dust must have still been in the Hall for our June Bingo because two chairs certainly were lucky for one husband and wife team. Yes, can you believe that Janet Congel won twice, her big win was the blackout game for a whopping $300! Janet's sweetie, Ed "just" won the $25 door prize. The two of them had a great evening. Congratulations. The background of Janet and Ed's picture is kinda fun too – Bob, Cynthia, and Terry all photo bombed with their jealous smiles! Each month we have tweaked our excel number "f lashboard" just a little and now it seems that it is working very well. Which is good because we may be using this f lashboard system till the end of the Bingo season in October. I am hopeful, and still working for new equipment that I and many others believe our players at OHCC deserve. However, the process has proven to be slow and difficult to navigate. I am letting my proposal meander its way through all the twists and turns with the hope that it will successfully finds its way to a purchase order with Bingo's name on it. The Bingo Board of Directors believe that you, our players, deserve new equipment. So, please remain optimistic. We will continue to raise funds with the hopes of getting new equipment. We have original design Bingo Bags available at no charge in exchange for your minimum donation of $20, which goes into our equipment fund.
