44 | OHCC LIVING | AUGUST 2024 | Our June summer party was a great success. There were 70 club members who enjoyed a grilled chicken lunch with all the delicious sides, plus a "make your own" ice cream sundae bar. We played a "get to know each other" game that was enthusiastically embraced by all. Our next meeting will be on Wed., Sept. 11 at 1:30 pm on the Palm Court. Club member Rosemary Bray will share her knowledge as a Dental Consultant. She calls her presentation "Oral Health in our Senior Years - Let's Talk Teeth!" Join us to learn the latest techniques to keep your teeth healthy, plus some giveaway surprises. The summer guest registration policy seems to be going well. Most OHCC residents have been great at following the pool rules. Registering guests at the Clubhouse front desk and receiving wrist bands is a simple thing to do and helps with the health and safety of all OHCC residents. The two most important things to remember are that guests must be accompanied by a resident and that a child must be at least five years old to use the pool. Thank you to the many folks who have chosen to follow the rules! All of the members of the current Board of our Swim & Wellness Club, including officers and directors, have been working for you for three years. President Robin Bleeker has indicated that she is ready to pass the reins to another volunteer. Current board members are unable to step up to fill her role, so we are actively searching for a new President. Could this be you? Here's a chance to make a difference in guiding our club to new heights. Please consider what you might have to offer as President. Our capable Board would be behind you, assisting in every way. Talk to one of us about your interests. Did you miss our Summer Swim Clinic? Never fear; our club offers FREE swimming lessons year-round. Contact Robin Ryan at robinryan.a@yahoo.com or Ken Krueger at k2krueger@yahoo.com for more information. Active Club member Pete Keilbach passed away suddenly in June. Many of us had just visited him at the Summer Party. Pete loved the pool and initially learned how to swim at our Swim Clinic. He is certainly missed at the pool and on the bocce court. Rest in peace, Pete. ~ Written by Sara Stewart, VP Swim & Wellness Club Pete Keilbach
