| OHCC LIVING | SEPTEMBER 2024 | 29 As summer winds down, there's a noticeable change in the activity level around the Sewing, etc. room. Our regular meeting for September will be a "Bruncheon" potluck, to be held in our new Lanai area and will begin at 11:30 am. Sign-up sheets are in the Sewing, etc. room. As usual, we only have a brief meeting during these events. Attending our "bruncheon" will be a guest speaker from the Project Linus program that our club has added to its list of philanthropy recipients. Our "free to members" classes for September are varied and exciting! On Fri., Sept. 6 there's a beginning quilting class with fall table runners on the agenda; Sat., Sept. 7 is a class teaching how to make the blankets for our new charity program, "Project Linus" (please note that this class has a different location – information is on the sign-up sheet); on urs., Sept. 19 we will be sewing casserole carriers (brought back by popular demand); and finally, on Sept. 21, there's a class about the basics of felting wool. All classes begin at 9:30 am, and are held in the Sewing, etc. room (with the one exception of the Project Linus workshop). All of these classes have sign-up sheets in the sewing room, and if supplies are required, there will be a list of necessary items there as well. Knitters and Crocheters are meeting on Saturday mornings from 10 am to 12 pm to work on their "challenge;" Quilting support is happening every Friday morning from 9 to 11:30 am in the Sewing Room; our Kneedlers (knitters) and Hookers (crocheters) gather every Tuesday from 3 to 4:30 pm; and on Tuesday evenings (6 to 8 pm) and Fridays (12 to 3 pm) several quilters, knitters, crocheters and sewers get together for "Sew & Chats." All these gatherings are loosely structured and help to keep us in touch. Please feel free to join any or all of them! Don't forget about our "rideshare" service to meetings and workshops that are held in our Clubhouse. If you are interested in attending and have no transportation, please call Sharon Philippe (760) 500-3086. We have a list of volunteers who will be happy to get you to and from the event. If you are interested in participating in our activities and are not sure who to reach out to for further information, please call MaryLu Belisle (952) 454-1931 for more information.
