Wow! It feels so strange to be saying 2025! Happy New Year and away we go! Our annual holiday party was a rousing success, thanks to the coordinators, Connie Heckathorne, Denise Winfield, and Rosanna de Leon. Sadly, Connie was unable to attend to observe how much we all appreciated the fruits of her labors, due to illness. She was greatly missed. Everyone enjoyed the many treats there were throughout the evening. Being seated in the dining room at gorgeous tables adorned with tablecloths, centerpieces from both the Restaurant and the handmade ones by the organizers created a particularly festive mood. I must say this was one of the most entertaining and creative parties we have had the pleasure of attending. Gingerbread men napkin rings, hand-created menus, custom-made place mats, and even edible games were all part of this year's celebration. Each of us brought a new, gift-wrapped ornament, and we took turns selecting the one we would take home. Much to my delight, no stealing of gifts this year! Several games were played with prizes for the winners. No one went home empty handed, as there was a goodie bag for each of us, along with adorable gingerbread houses filled with, what else… gingerbread men cookies! Six lucky gals took home the handmade centerpieces. A few of our members also had to miss out on the fun, either due to traveling or experiencing some sort of bug. Speedy recovery to those of you who weren't up to attending. A gigantic thank you to our server, Gina, who took special care of our every need and request throughout the evening. We meet weekly on Mondays from 1 to 3 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room with the exception of the second Monday, when our time changes to 11 am to 1 pm. Same location. This month, we meet on Jan. 6, 13, 20, 27. The second Thursday of every month is our birthday luncheon, usually held right here at the Clubhouse. Our luncheon will be on Thurs., Jan. 9 at 11:30 am. The location varies, so stay tuned for more information on that. For any questions you may have about our group, please contact either Elaine Perkins at (951) 334-3119 or Sallie Flesher at (951) 902- 9768. Paper Crafting 28 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2025 | Fiber Artists The blankets pictured involve no sewing, just a good pair of scissors and we can show you how! Then you'll be confident to try something else. We finished these up in one meeting to send to Kaiser. We begin the year with high hopes of sharing our work and teaching others. If your resolution is a new hobby, we are here to help. There are no dues, just a gathering of yarn enthusiasts working together. We meet in the North Clubhouse every Monday. On the second Monday of the month we share our yarns and supplies, on the last Monday of the month we share a potluck lunch. We are continuing our blanket project for premature babies and terminal patients. We meet every Monday at 12:30 pm, except on the third Monday when we meet at 11:30 am. Hope to see you there. Mudslingers The Mudslingers (ceramics class) had a busy fall. We had many representatives at the Crafts Fair in November and several participants in our Open House and Sale in November. We continue to be a very full class, but a waiting list is available by calling Camille at (951) 751-7151. Cost is $80 per month and includes supplies and tools. We meet on Wednesdays 3 to 6 pm and Fridays 9 am to 12 pm. Our Mudslingers teacher Paul "Bear" Bradford Blankets for Kaiser Hospital Fontana patients
