| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MARCH 2025 | 27 Tickets on sale now for Let's Murder Marsha March 22, 6:30 pm. Let's Murder Marsha, a full-length, 90-minute comedy, will be performed by Four Seasons Players on March 22 at 6:30 pm, directed by Dick English a veteran 4SP actor and Club member, and featuring a cast of seven Four Seasons residents. Let's Murder Marsha was written by Monk Ferris, a pen name of the prolic playwright Jack Sharkey. What happens when a happy housewife named Marsha, hopelessly addicted to reading murder mysteries, overhears a conversation between her loving husband and an interior decorator and thinks it is a plot for her murder? It makes for the basis of a terric show for family audiences who like their comedy broad and fast and nonstop. "Ever had a misunderstanding with your spouse or signicant other? You overheard a conversation about you, completely out of context, and perhaps jumped to the wrong conclusion? Most of us have, but Marsha Gilmore, lead character in Let's Murder Marsha, takes the art of misunderstanding to a whole new, hilarious, level… is topsy-turvy comedy of half-truths and misunderstandings, written by Monk Ferris… is sure to make you laugh out loud." ~ e Community Press (Sedgewick, Alberta) Dick English is looking forward to directing this production. Dick had zero acting experience when he rst came to what was then called Readers eater. He had always enjoyed live theater but had never participated. Watching some of the original Four Seasons players and seeing how much they seemed to enjoy acting he asked whether he could audition. e answer was, "Why don't you just try it?" e experience was so encouraging. e more experienced shared some of the "rules" of the stage, don't turn your back to the audience, speak up so that you can be heard, but most especially enjoy yourself. He learned from them and performed in many Four Seasons Players' presentations. He has also joined with Stratford Players in Idyllwild and was given an award for a performance at Ramona Hillside Players here in Hemet. Now Dick is trying his had at directing a play. It is a challenge, but working with agreeable people makes it enjoyable. A cast of four female and three male residents, selected in February, began rehearsing Feb. 28, for three hours per day, and nine days, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in March. e rehearsals progress from a desktop reading to a full-dress rehearsal. e play runs smoothly and pauses only for a well- placed intermission. is smoothness is due in large part to the entire play occurring in one set, which prevents potential disruption due to set changes. Tickets for $7 are now on sale at e Lodge front desk. Don't miss out.
