FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2025 63 As the Water Volleyball Club's winter season at The Summit winds down and we return to The Courts to begin our summer session, we have some exciting news to share. First, we will be holding our end of winter indoor tournament on Saturday, May 3 at The Summit. Tournament play will take place from 10 am to 12 pm, followed by a Cinco de Mayo themed potluck with a taco bar, nachos, and margaritas (bring your own tequila). Everyone is welcome to come out and watch the tournament action, and if you want to participate in the potluck, please contact Craig at the email address below for a list of items you can bring. Second, when we move outdoors for summer play, we are designating Saturdays specifically for beginner play (Division 3). If you ever thought you'd like to try water volleyball, but were intimidated by the level of competition, this is your chance to participate. There will be no spiking or blocking in Division 3 play and the ball we use indoors is softer than what is used outdoors. Also, The Summit pool is shallower than the one at The Courts. So no excuses, come out and give it a go. Water volleyball is a great way to get out of the house for some low impact exercise. Everyone is welcome. You don't need to be a member of the club to play, and all ages, heights and skill levels can participate! As we head into late spring and early summer, we should be getting some good turnouts for play. Also, as the weather warms up we will be changing our start time. Bocce ball requires no specific skill or previous experience. You will get a little exercise and enjoy a beautiful view and breeze at The Summit, all while having a great time with a good group of people. So come on out, join our shuff leboard family, and participate in an outdoor activity, while getting a little exercise and enjoying some fresh air and socialization with other Four Seasons residents. We play on Monday and Saturday mornings at 9 am. We play at the newer shuff leboard courts at The Lodge, behind the swimming pool and next to the paddle tennis courts. We enjoy our own quiet, somewhat shaded area where we play. Shuff leboard is an easy game to learn and anyone can quickly become proficient at this sport. Our games usually last about an hour or so and we choose different teams each time that we play. This allows us to keep the competition challenging and the games more interesting. We play for fun, but of course, everyone likes to win. We have no losers, only non-winners. We have a great group of players who play regularly, but we are always looking to welcome new players. So if anyone is interested in joining a fun activity with lots of friendly residents, please just show up on Monday and/or Saturday mornings, a little before 9 am. We will give you an introduction to shuff leboard if you have never played before, or a refresher, if needed. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. Otherwise, I hope to see you at the shuff leboard courts. ~ Marty Rotman, (310) 948-1693, mrtmj@aol.com Shuffleboard
