| OHCC LIVING | NOVEMBER 2025 |23 Village Vets Pride Runs Deep – A Message from the Village Vets I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I'm proud to be part of the Ocean Hills Village Veterans Club. As a member of several national veterans' organizations — like MOAA, VFW, DAV, and the Navy League, I've attended plenty of meetings over the years. Most of them are just a group of vets swapping old war stories (which we love, of course). But here at Ocean Hills, it's different. Yes, we tell our share of "war stories" — some of them even true! But more importantly, we stay active and involved. We've hosted several exciting events recently that brought our veteran community together in meaningful ways. Over the past few months: • We visited Submarine Squadron 11 and even toured one of the subs. • LtCol Greg Coffey, USAF (Ret.), gave a fascinating talk on the B-2 Bomber. • Col Susanne "Susz" Clark, USA (Ret.), shared her powerful experiences as an Army nurse in her presentation: "Mission: US Army Assessment of the Qalat, Afghanistan Hospital." • Commenced a partnership with the SALT Club to ensure all our vets are served. Veterans Day Celebration – Abravanel Hall, Nov. 11, 11 am We're not slowing down! On Veterans Day, we invite the entire Ocean Hills community to join us in honoring all who served. Our featured speaker will be Col. Scott Battles, USAF (Ret.), and we'll enjoy music from the Rancho Buena Vista High School Wind Ensemble and our very own OHCC Chorale. There will also be other special moments—and a few surprises! This is the 15th year that the bandmaster and the Rancho Buena Vista High School Wind Ensemble have honored us with their music and presence. We will provide information at the ceremony on how you can support this award-winning ensemble. Village Vets Holiday Party – Abravanel Hall, Dec. 12, 5:30 pm Start I'm running out of room, but our Party Planning team has put together another great party! Our special guests this year will be Coast Guardsmen (Coasties) and their families. Look for additional posters, f lyers, Bugle articles, and Eblasts about this event. We sold out last year!
