34 | THE COLONY NEWS | MARCH 2026 | In January, after a weather postponement, we had 11 foursomes for a rain-free "Regular Scramble," though the course was somewhat muddy and covered with clover. The top five teams were in the 53 net score category, and the balance in the 58+ level. It was very competitive, and only one-half of a stroke between the first and fourth winning scores. Those who posted winning positions for the contest were: Winning Teams 1st 53.390 David and Donna MacLagan, Candi Pineiro and Denise Sturm 2nd 53.451 Mike Tsumura, Anita Hoetker, Ken Kawamura and Bonnie Hinman 3rd 53.542 Terry Lundquist, Sue Jordan, Charles Craven and Loretta Schlosser 4th 53.679 Jim and Janet Nachtigal, Bill and Susan Connelly Closest to the Pin #3 Team #13 Terry Lundquist, Sue Jordan, Charles Craven and Loretta Schlosser – 4'1" #5 Women, Annette Lalicker – 11'3½" / Men, Terry Lundquist – 9'7" #15 Women, Peggy Clendenen – 24'4" / Men, Candi Pineiro – 4'6" #16 Team #12 Phil Johnson, Donita Scott, Malcolm Grant and Sherry Roberts – 11'8" The Darwin Award went to Team 17, Rich and Bea Brown, Dennis Murphy and Karen Alonso for failing to return CTP Box from Hole 16 to the Pro-Shop at the tournament's end. The Socrates Award went to Marge Anderson for her auto horn alarm blaring during the critical announcement of "Rules for the Day." Our next contest is March 12 and will be our "A & B Format." As with all Jack and Jill events, you do not have to be a member of either the Men's or Women's Golf Clubs to play. Just pick up your sticks and join us. See ya on the links! Jack & Jill By Dennis Murphy, 951-461-0457 Ladies Golf By Judy Lebovitz, 951-461-0065 Our Valentine's luncheon was a special event — and especially for me — as we celebrated my birthday with a catered Cove meal and two birthday cakes! Our Tournament Director, Suzanne Marsolais-Johnson announced the Aces of the Year: Debbie Johnson for Low handicap and Janet Nachtigal for High handicap. The Most Improved Golfer for 2025 was Ann Hartwig. We also welcomed our newest member, Linda Belle Latham. HOA Board President Kathy Stevens was a guest, and she briefed us about the progress of the golf course purchase. Because some issues are on hold, we were encouraged to remain hopeful about owning the course later this year. Tee time throughout March is 8:30 am, and our monthly lunch meetings are every first Tuesday. The food is always delicious, and the meetings are informative and enjoyable. If you are interested in joining us, please contact our Membership Chair, Linda Peterson at 360-790-9590. I am so very honored and happy to be a part of this amazing women's club. As well as being golfing partners, we have a great group of caring women who do considerable charity work. I hope you'll consider joining us. David MacLagan Donna MacLagan Candi Pineiro Denise Sturm
