TERRAMOR BEYOND THE GATES | SUMMER 2026 15 When we first stepped onto the land in 2014, it didn't yet have a story. It carried the name "Toscana," but what stretched out before us was something far less defined and full of possibility. Rolling terrain, quiet canyons, sunlit ridgelines. A place waiting to become something meaningful. Before there was ever a name, we focused on what this place wanted to be. We set out to create more than a community. We envisioned a place that heightens all senses. A place where arrival feels intentional, where every detail contributes to a feeling. Elevated, but not removed. Energized, yet grounded. A hillside village that blends charm with vitality, where nature and lifestyle come together in a way that feels both timeless and entirely new. The land itself guided us. Its undulating topography, its interplay of light and shadow, its natural rhythm. It suggested a destination rooted in experience, one that would feel alive in every moment. This wasn't just about where people would live. It was about how they would feel living there. Only after that vision was clear did the naming development begin. There were many strong contenders. Names like Avista, Terrain and Westerra each captured a piece of the idea. But none fully expressed the emotional connection we kept coming back to. The deeper truth behind the vision. Terramor did. Drawn from the essence of "land" and "love," Terramor became more than a name. It became a reflection of the relationship between people and place. A genuine appreciation for the land itself, and a recognition that this community would be shaped by that connection. It speaks to the hills and canyons, the ridgelines and views. But more importantly, it speaks to a feeling. A sense of belonging. A sense of care. A place designed not just to be lived in, but to be loved. ~ Jennifer Stoddard Written by Diane Laurino, Associate Editor/Resident Engagement & Special Interest If you had asked me back in 2014 whether I'd ever leave my home, let alone move somewhere called Temescal Valley, I would've laughed. The idea wasn't even a passing thought. But life has a way of nudging us forward, quietly at first, then all at once. Fast forward to mid 2021, when the possibility of moving began to take shape. Around that same time, a friend mentioned a new community she had just moved into — Terramor. One conversation led to another, curiosity turned into visits, and by 2022 I found myself following the same path. What I didn't know then was that my friend Jennifer, who works for Gunn Jerkens, a marketing agency, had once been part of a project with developers on a brand-new community in South Corona. And yes — that community. Terramor. Long before either of us lived here, she and the Gunn Jerkens team had already helped shape its identity. It's funny how small the world becomes when you realize the threads connecting you were there all along. What follows is Jennifer's beautiful account of how Terramor received its name. Enjoy.
