32 | OHCC LIVING | SEPTEMBER 2026 | Travel Club Happy Labor Day to all. We hope for cooler weather in the beautiful month of September. In August, we visited Laguna Beach for the annual Pageant of the Masters. The theme this year was the Greatest of All Time (G.O.A.T.) It lived up to our expectations and then some. If you have never experienced this performance, it's a must see. The Travel Club is busy planning day trips to parts of Southern California. Places we would like to visit and hope you will also. If there is a place you would like to visit or experience, please feel free to contact us (ohcctravelclub2025@gmail.com) with your suggestions. Here Are Our Upcoming Trips/Events: Sept. 22 – We will head to Long Beach to visit the Aquarium of the Pacific, which features a collection of 12,000 animals in more than 100 exhibits. We will have lunch at the Club favorite Bubba Gumps and finish our trip with a harbor cruise. For more details, see the f lyer in the Clubhouse. Oct. 1 – Our annual elections and program. Joe Ashby and Dee Wardell will present on their world cruise to be entitled "Global Encounters." Dec. 13 – We will travel to Segerstrom Hall in Costa Mesa for a matinee performance of the American Ballet Theatre's acclaimed production of The Nutcracker Ballet. An early dinner at Claim Jumper is included. 2027 Trips/Events in the Works: January – Our Kickoff to the new year with dinner and a preview of upcoming trips. Details to follow. Feb. 18 – We head to the San Diego Zoo's Safari Park to check out the new Elephant Exhibit which we hear is just fantastic. March 18 – The Nethercutt Automotive Museum in Sylmar with lunch included. Frequently people on a trip need to cancel. Many people on our wait lists actually have had the opportunity to go on our trips. To be placed on the waitlist or to register for any of our trips, leave a check made out to the OH Travel Club, in the Travel Club envelope at the Clubhouse Front Desk. Add $5 to the price if you are not a member of the Club. You will receive an email confirming your registration. We certainly hope you will join us on one of our trips! Your OH Travel Club Board, Adele, Lynn, Amy, Jeannine and Callie Written by Amy Blount The Genealogy Interest Group is a growing group of individuals who want to find out about their heritage and their ancestry. Curiosity about those who came before and formed us is important. The group provides tools to do your research and help in getting started. We can offer suggestions to break through the brick walls of past generations. Meeting with others researching in the same geographical areas is a great help. We have a few Apple computers and PCs in the computer room. It is helpful if you want to bring your own laptop. We will meet for Help Sessions on Thurs., Sept. 10 and Fri., Sept. 25 at 10 am. Newcomers are welcome. We are happy to offer the World Explorer version of Ancestry.com free of charge in the computer room. This program would cost an individual over $100 per month. We also offer the Family Tree maker on several of the computers in the lab. A family tree can be started and compiled with either or both of these programs with many hints to assist in your research. Coordinators are Dorothy Miller, Shirley Rock and Peggy Singh. Contact us at rootsatOHCC@gmail.com. Written by Dorothy Miller and Shirley Rock Genealogy Interest Group
