4 SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | SEPTEMBER 2026 By Mary McKernan, Board Member 'Tis the season of ghosts, goblins, autumn leaves, elections, turkeys, and holiday lights. To celebrate these holidays and maintain our precious neighborhood's aesthetics, it's time to review our Rules and Regulations that were approved by the Board of Directors in March 2017 and revised on June 27, 2024, regarding signs and holiday decorations. Signs: In general, the regulations for signs, per our CC&R (2.8) and Civil Codes 712, 713, and 4710, state that no sign, advertising device, or other display of any kind will be displayed in the Community or on any public street in or abutting the Community, except for the following: • One real estate sign is not to exceed 18" x 30." • One open house sign is also not to exceed 18" x 30." • One non-commercial flag will be allowed during open house hours. • One political sign is allowed 30 days prior to the election and must be removed within seven days following the election. California law states that governing documents may not prohibit the posting or displaying of noncommercial signs, posters, flags, or banners on or in a member's separate interest, except as required for the protection of public health or safety or if the posting or display would violate local, state, or federal law. Historically, our Solera Diamond Valley community has shown respect and appreciation for all our neighbors. Holiday Decorations: Holiday decorations are regulated to support community safety, aesthetic standards, and property values. Appropriate decorations may be displayed outside a residence to commemorate recognized holidays. Decorations may be displayed for 14 days prior to and seven days after the holidays. I know this may dampen the Halloween enthusiasts; therefore, this is a rule I personally think the community can request be changed to extend to the entire month of October. I loved when we held a contest for the various categories of decorating for both Halloween and Christmas. For the December holidays, decorations may be displayed beginning the weekend following Thanksgiving but should be removed by Jan. 10. Holidays are Around the Corner! turkeys, and holiday lights.
