38 | OHCC LIVING | OCTOBER 2026 | Our Bridge Club teachers, with Diane Hillman leading and Casey Shoenhard and Ken Shafarman helping, finished a 20-week beginner and review course at the end of August. There were 26 students who completed the FREE course with approximately 14 others popping in for different subjects. Many of these new players have joined our duplicate games on Tuesday and Fridays. We have mentored games each Wednesday night in October from 5:30-7:30 pm. Please call Diane Hillman for more information on future lessons (619) 987-1444. We are working hard to make our club better and more enjoyable for all our members. In addition to the lessons for existing and new players we provide, we recently purchased a card dealing machine. With this machine, all duplicate boards are prepared in advance - no more shuff ling the boards manually when players arrive. Hand records are also generated and available to each player at the end of the session. The hand records are a great tool to help players understand and improve their game by seeing the most likely bids and results that each hand can produce.
