| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | October 2026 | 29 Golf Cart Parade As I said last month, Donna and I thought about dropping the parades after a poor turn out last Halloween but the Holiday and July 4th parades were terrific, and we are fired up about the next parade (the Halloween Parade). It will occur on Halloween, so be on the lookout for future notices/blasts from Tracie Rodgers. The costumes and decorations are always spectacular. A cannot miss event! The parade will take little less than an hour and is always greeted by the residents along the parade route. In addition to the cart decorations, the participants will have some spectacular outfits. If you are not in the parade, you may want to come down for the line-up (5:30 to 6 pm) and check out the cart decorations and the participants costumes. Flag Angels The Flag Angels had five f lag postings in two months, 5,290 f lags up and down! I have put off the highlighting of Flag Angels to take a moment to ref lect on the loss of two great guys: Dave Weakley and Don Welsh! Dave was a long-time member of the Club and was an outstanding Angel who often would take another route when somebody was sidelined. I enjoyed many a parade with Dave. He would decorate his cart to the hilt and dress up and lead several parades. It was the start of a 14-year friendship. For more, see the article in this issue for the Golf Club. Don Walsh was my mentor for the golf cart parades and the f lag angels. He always had a way of making you an instant good friend. His parties after the parades are legendary. Halloween Cart Parade: On Halloween night. A Bit of History When I did my article for the Golf Club's founding fathers, I decided to look back at the beginning of the Flag Angels. The first angels consisted of four people: John O'Connor, Larry Clover, Cecil Frazier, and Greg Rockvam. John (who just hung up his wings earlier this year), Greg, and Cecil still reside in Four Seasons. They posted f lags at 950- 1,000 homes for seven holidays. Much of the material for this article came from my meeting with Greg and Cecil (John was convalescing at that time). The four of them were going on a trip to check out Beaumont when they were marveling at the f lag display in Hemet, and Greg remembered that his real estate agent put f lags in front of his houses. The germ was planted; the Board stepped up and bought the f lags which were stored in the Lodge and passed out and collected at the Lodge.
