Neighborly Notes A reminder to all residents: October is the last month in 2013 when you can swim in a warm pool. The main pool heaters will be turned off on the last day of October; however, the spa will continue to be heated for residents. For those of us who remember listening to radio shows – particularly on Sunday afternoons while doing quotidian tasks such as cleaning your room – be prepared for a special treat. The Reader's Theater will be held on Friday, Oct. 4. Plan to come and enjoy the show at 6 pm in the Ballroom– without a second thought of having to do housekeeping! Cross your fingers for warm, but not hot, weather for the HOA Parking Lot / Garage Sale on Oct. 5. This is an event which brings buyers from outside our community. Gates open for eager customers at 8 am. The General Session of the BOD Meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 1 pm. Hopefully, we will have a larger turn-out of residents than we have been experiencing during the summer. On Aug. 8, only 16 residents were in attendance; no committee chairpersons or their representatives were in the meeting to give a report. The Social Committee is planning a lot of good fun for the Halloween Party on Oct. 26. Look forward to a hat contest, a costume contest and other surprise events. Tickets are only $20 for a delightful evening. The 2013 Greater Palm Springs LGBT Pride Festival is being held in Palm Springs on Nov. 2 and 3. A group of Four Seasons residents and your gay and lesbian neighbors would like to invite you to go and enjoy it as well. The Festival is held on both days at Sunrise Park in Palm Springs Stadium; the parade is on By Bobbie Eckel Sunday on E. Ramon Road along historic Palm Canyon Drive. If you are interested and would like more details, please see pspride.org for Festival information, parade route and spectator advice. Save the date of Nov. 7 for the Annual Senior Health Fair sponsored by Beaumont Senior Services. The event will be held from 8 am to 12 noon at the Albert A. Chatigny Sr. Community Center, 1310 Oak Valley Parkway. This event will include free health screenings including blood pressure, BMI (Body Mass Index) information, free blood draws for glucose and cholesterol, free bone density testing and much more. Shuttles will be provided from the overflow parking lot. This Beaumont city event is co-sponsored by the Redlands Yucaipa Medical Group, Pinnacle Medical Group, Beaver Medical Group and San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital. The Beaumont Senior Newsletter of September and October 2013 warns residents about a property tax reduction scam alert. Be aware that the scam artists are contacting individuals with offers of a property tax reduction. The letter which you may receive looks official and may include a request to respond quickly and even threaten a late fee if you do not respond by the deadline. Their letters also include a form that requests you to provide personal/financial information which the scam artist may use to gain access to your accounts and steal your identity. Do not complete these forms or provide any personal information to the scam artists. If you have any questions about the authenticity of the letter you have received, please call the San Bernardino County Adult Protective Services or your Beaumont Police Department and ask for information! Murder Mystery Dinner Do you want to be a sleuth or a suspect? Come to the important informational meeting on Oct. 9, at 6:30 pm in the Theater to learn more about the Murder Mystery Dinner Theater in March and cast selection. There are openings for major parts and also many one-line or walk-on parts. You'll be glad you did! You will have an opportunity to meet the director, get an outline of characters, and sign up for your audition time on either Jan. 19 or 20. Also, please come if you can help behind the scenes. We need stage managers, props, costumes, stage hands and make-up artists. Since this meeting is the only opportunity to be involved in this production, please contact our Director, Roberta Hokuf, if you cannot make this meeting. Her phone number is (951) 845-5458 or ricksberta@aol.com. ~ Barabra Wasco Community News | FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2013 9
