Activities Director Corner Start November out with a great evening of live music and dancing on Nov. 1, at 6 pm in the Ballroom. It's another FREE "Friday Night at the Lodge Show" starring "Standard Jazz," the beautiful sounds of Darriel and Raul Bautista. Bring your dinner in from Smitty's or just your favorite beverage and tap your foot or grab a friend and dance the night away. All are welcome. For those of you who are anxious to send holiday cards and pictures via e-mail or those who want to execute some special computer project for a loved one, don't miss the computer lecture given by Joseph Ligori in the Ballroom on Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 1 to 4 pm. He'll have all kinds of great tips and ideas as well as answers to your computer challenges. Feel free to join us. There is no cost for admittance. The Old School Dance Group presents an "Oldie but Goodie Soul Jam" (sock hop), on Friday, Nov. 8 from 5 to 8 pm in the Lodge Ballroom. Tickets are $5 and can be obtained by calling Willa Harris at (562) 307-4978 no later than Nov. 4. Everyone is welcome and refreshments will be served. Our Four Seasons Veterans will be honored by an evening of music and stories presented by some of our own Hometown Heroes. Come and take a minute to honor those who have served in our Armed Forces and to remember those who gave so much for our country. The program starts at 5 pm on Monday, Nov. 11 (Veteran's Day) and will include dessert. This is an HOA event and everyone, including extended family, is welcome. The Craft Boutique on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 10 am to 2 pm is sure to get your holiday shopping off to a good start! There are tons of crafty, talented sellers with everything you could possibly want for one-of-a-kind gifts. This is always a very popular event so be sure to mark it on your calendars. While you are marking your calendars, consider this… this year since our community is getting so big, we need to spread our traditional Four Seasons "Holiday Extravaganza" out over two evenings. We will have the same show on both Friday, Dec. 6, and Saturday, Dec. 7. The show will consist of holiday music from our own Four Seasons Singers, an entertaining dance piece and then a holiday play put on by the CAST Players (our local community theater group) called a"A Seussical Christmas Carol." It the familiar "Christmas Carol" story with a Dr. Seuss twist. Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the evening. There is no cost for the tickets, however, you must choose which night you prefer to attend and get tickets from the front desk to ensure your seat. There will only be 300 tickets given out per night and you are welcome to bring your family. Tickets are on a first come, first served basis. Don't forget about the Event Systems Committee "Holiday Home Tour" which will take place this year on Dec. 14, from 10 By Cindy Graves, Activities Director 10 am to 4 pm. If you have been thinking about opening up your house to be on the Home Tour, please come down to the Lodge and fill out an application. You must have a filled out application to have one of the homes on the tour. Everyone absolutely loves this Home Tour! What great inspiring ideas and what a festive mood these homes put you in! For those of you who just want to go on the tour, wristbands will be available in the Lodge lobby on the day of the tour for only $5 each. All proceeds will go to the Event Systems Committee, toward community equipment upgrades. I want to take this time to really put a big thank you out to the Event Systems Committee for all of the time (tons and tons of time!) that they put into stage set-ups and tear downs; like for the Radio Theater performance, and Social Committee's Family Feud event and the Fashion Show and Tea as well as many, many others. Roland Harrah, the ESC Chairman, personally spends hours drawing up elaborate sound mixing charts (like the one for the Tom Nolan band at the Amphitheater Grand Finale), as well as communicating back and forth with the various musicians and entertainers to be sure all the mic stands, sound monitors, cords and cables are in place for them. He wouldn't tell you this, but he actually did a turn around trip to Arizona and back, in a day, just to be sure he was here to run the Amphitheater show for everyone! These are just show production tasks and are completely separate from all of the specialized equipment analysis, buying and building that goes in to making this facility a more enjoyable venue for more and more types of entertainment. I definitely couldn't do my job nearly as well without the expertise and support provided by this amazing group of people in ESC. Penny McDonnell, Melody Seewoster, Susan and Sheldon Craig, Tom Shelley and numerous others (who use ESC often) are forever grateful for the commitment and tireless investment provided to Four Seasons by Roland Harrah (Chairman extraordinaire), Phil Harris, Colin Taylor, David Holt, Larry Goodreau, Teri DiMarino and Jeff Davidson. Thank you for all of your hard work! We are more grateful for your community service than you'll ever know! FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | NOVEMBER 2013 | community News As a reminder, the swimming pool heaters will be turned off effective Nov. 1. This has been an effective means of saving the Association thousands of dollars on the gas bill during the winter months. The Spa Pool will continue to be heated. ~ Lisa Lynn
