EXCURSIONS Sign-ups begin for the Recreation Department excursions on Nov. 1, at 8 am, in the Rec. Dept. offices. PLEASE NOTE! Due to some of the excursion refund policies, and to keep cancellations down to a minimum, we ask those who wish to sign up for an excursion to please check your calendar for prior engagements prior to signing up for excursions. REFUND POLICY: 1. Cancellations made 30 days prior to the departure date of an excursion or special event will qualify for a full refund. 2. Cancellations made after the 30 day refund deadline are not refundable. However, if an excursion or event has sold out and there is a wait list, the Recreation Department may issue a refund if the ticket can be resold from the wait list. Thank you Segerstrom Center for the Arts Mon., Jan. 6, 10:30 am - 6 pm. The Segerstrom Center for the Arts, located in Costa Mesa and formerly known as the Orange County Performing Arts Center, is committed to presenting world-class productions in the 3,000 seat theater. Today the Segerstrom Center welcomes use to take a docent lead tour and learn about its history while exploring backstage and behind-the-scenes areas. You'll experience architectural splendor and technology wonder first hand. You will have a real "insiders" look into the star-studded world of theater, music and dance. We will start off the day by visiting the South Coast Plaza for a two hour lunch stop, on your own. After lunch we will head over to the Segerstrom Center, we will split the group in half for a two hour docent tour. NOTE: This excursion involves a lot of walking. Grab your water bottle and put on your most favorite walking shoes and join us for a day in beautiful Orange County. Cirque du Soleil "Totem" Penchanga Resort & Casino Wed., Jan. 22, 8 am – 4 pm. $5 with $5 easy play money. Spend five hours at Pechanga Resort and Casino. The casino's well planned layout allows guests to move easily among the 3,000+ slot and video machines and over 130+ table games. Cocktail service is available to guests on the gaming floor with several bars, lounges, and restaurants close to the casino floor action. Make it a lucky day at Pechanga! Fri., Jan. 24, 2 - 8 pm, $89 pp. Cirque du Soleil describes Totem's theme as the evolution of humanity from its primordial, amphibian state toward the aspiration of flight, taking inspiration from many of humanity's founding myths. The show was awarded the 2013 New York Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience. Cirque du Soleil used interactive projection technologies to enhance and provide variety to the types of scenes created for Totem, including swamps, starry nights, lakes, volcanoes, and other natural environments. Join us today as we travel to Santa Monica via motor coach to see the fabulous Cirque du Soleil. This program will be performed under their big top. We will enjoy a Level 1 seating that provides a great view. If a holiday falls on the first day of the month, sign-ups will begin the next day. waiting list policy The waiting list is created by the Rec. Dept. for sold out events/ excursions. This list is used (in order of registration) when the attendee has to cancel due to illness, doctor's appointment, etc. The waiting list is not used for additional sign-ups for secondary excursions that are scheduled due to their popularity. Contact the Rec. Dept. if you have any questions about either of these two policies. We accept checks only (payable to Sun Lakes). All Recreation Classes, Excursions, and Special Events are open to residents only, unless otherwise specified. We may open Excursions and Special Events to guests if numbers are low and the activity is in danger of being canceled. -Thank you!
