Partners' Average Hdc. 9/30, 7:30 am: Partners Best Net Score Per Hole – By Flight From the Membership Chair – Ross Thomas: Having completed what I believe to be one of the most successful fund raisers that our club has sponsored, I personally want to thank the entire membership for your support. With that said, we continue to add new members within the club. Our latest are Bill Swinney and Bill Stewart. We welcome you both and hope you enjoy the golf club and all the friendship and social activities that the club has to offer. This brings the membership to 178 guys and gals who continue to enjoy the game of golf and all the camaraderie after the game of Tuesday. New membership applications are available from the Lodge receptionist. Should you have any questions about joining the golf club, please contact Ross Thomas, (951) 325-2019 or email rthomaspa@yahoo.com. From the Rules Chair – Cliff Post: I'm not a snake expert, but it seems to me that we're seeing more snakes out there! I've heard a lot of reports of snake sightings. With that in mind, why are we hunting for golf balls on the hillsides of 5, 7, 14, 15, and 16? Not that snakes could not be found on any hole, but the above seem the most likely to me. I mean, even if you found your ball the chances are you would have an unplayable lie. The result could be no better than the penalty of a "lost ball." My thinking is if I can't see it in the open, it must be lost. Therefore, I'm going to play my provisional ball. I just don't see the "risk/reward" return in beating the bushes for a ball, risking my obligated playing partners and myself. So, give it some thought. On a separate note, why would anyone climb down into the lateral water hazard on 13 for a golf ball? Even if you got it out without slipping on the tarp down there and even if your playing partners don't have to climb down after you, that ball is going to be covered in a slime that the U.S. Center For Disease Control would not touch. Think about it. Any rules questions just give me a call or stop me. From the Social Chair – Ellen Walsh: Sept. 2 will find our members gathered at The Plaza for another "Masters of Barbecue" event! We are so lucky to have our wonderful grilling experts offer their services. Another event to you will not want to miss is the final banquet of 2014. The date for the Club Championship Banquet will be Sat., Nov. 15. Be sure to save the date! Blair Becker has been very busy preparing a slide show with a wedding theme. It should be a lot of fun. Thank you again to all who participate! From the Greens Chair – Chaz McManis: Several members have commented that the course conditions have improved somewhat over the past few weeks. Although our club has no proprietary interest in the course, it is in our best interest to maintain the conditions as best we can. With that in mind, I'm asking all members to make a small effort to make repairs each time you play. Fix a few ball marks on the greens, replace a rope stake that someone else left down, pick up a red hazard marker and put it back in the ground, etc. You get the idea. A little effort from a large group of us will make the course more enjoyable to play. Continued from previous page | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | September 2014 | 30
