If the first falls on a Saturday or Sunday then sign-ups will begin on the following Monday. If a holiday falls on the first day of the month, sign-ups will begin the next day. WaItING lISt POlICy The waiting list is created by the Rec. Dept. for sold out events/excursions. This list is used (in order of registration) when the attendee has to cancel due to illness, doctor's appointment, etc. The waiting list is not used for additional sign-ups for secondary excursions that are scheduled due to their popularity. Contact the Rec. Dept. if you have any questions about either of these two policies. Due to some of the excursion refund policies, and to keep cancellations down to a minimum, we ask those who wish to sign up for an excursion to please check your calendar for prior engagements prior to signing up for excursions. REFUND POLICY: 1. Cancellations made 30 days prior to the departure date of an excursion or special event will qualify for a full refund. 2. Cancellations made after the 30 day refund deadline are not refundable. However, if an excursion or event has sold out and there is a wait list, the Recreation Department may issue a refund if the ticket can be resold from the wait list. Thank you! eXcursIons Nixon Library with Lunch at Polly's Pies Thurs., feb. 19, 8:45 am - 4 pm, $43. Today you will tour the museum at the Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, California, situated on nine acres in Southern California. In addition to exhibitions, the grounds include President Nixon's helicopter and birthplace. Visitors are also invited to see the special exhibit galleries, which show a variety of rotating exhibits related to our mission as a national institution and local landmark. There is an extensive collection of memorabilia, artifacts, formal clothing and photographs of the Nixon's and their children. This collection includes an assortment of bronze figures of world leaders who had important relations with Nixon as president or during his service as Vice President under President Dwight D. Eisenhower from 1953 to 1961. You will see a 28-minute film on the life and political career of President Nixon. There are 23 galleries throughout the Library you can meander through. Lieutenant Colonel Gene Boyer, President Nixon's chief helicopter pilot, secured the President's VH-3A "Sea King" helicopter, tail number 150617, to be on permanent display on the library grounds. The helicopter was in the presidential fleet from 1961 to 1976, transporting Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Ford as well as many foreign heads of state and government. Boyer flew President Nixon dozens of times to Camp David, over the pyramids in Egypt and on his final flight from the White House in this craft. After the three hour self-guided tour, you will head over to Polly's Pies for a delicious lunch. After lunch you will head back home. Please make your menu choice at the time of sign ups. eXcursIon sIgn ups: mon., dec. 1, 8 am Russian National Ballet Theatre "Swan Lake" Sun., feb. 8, 12 - 6 pm, $57 pp. The esteemed Russian National Ballet Theatre performs one of the most magical and well-known works from the classical ballet repertoire. This beloved fantasy ballet is inspired by the German legend of Odette, a beautiful princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerers curse. With majestic choreography by Petipa, a lush score by Tchaikovsky and mesmerizing costumes and sets, it continues to attract newcomers to this magnificent art form. The 50-member Russian national Ballet Theatre has earned the adoration of classical ballet enthusiast for 135 years. Founded in 1994 by Elena Radchenko, legendary principal dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet, and is dedicated to preserving the grand ballet traditions while nurturing young dancers throughout Russia.
