Here are a few holiday suggestions: The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa 3649 Mission Inn Avenue, Riverside, CA, (951) 784-0300 If you have never been to the Mission Inn at Christmas time then you are in for a real treat. It's a vision of a Dickensian holiday spectacle featuring lights and decorations throughout downtown Riverside, an outdoor ice-skating rink on the Main Street pedestrian mall, holiday vendors and family friendly entertainment. The Festival of Lights starts Nov. 28 and ends Jan. 6. This historic hotel has a spectacular display of nearly 4 million enchanting exterior lights with many animated figurines. The interior is filled with beautiful Christmas trees and accessories. In addition there are several choices of restaurants to dine at. For those special grandchildren they also offer horse drawn carriage rides for a fee. Call for additional information. 67th Annual Feast of Lights University of Redlands School of Music 1200 East Colton Avenue, Redlands, CA 909-748-8166 Ticket Office It's a tapestry of tableaux, music, drama and poetry performed every year during the first weekend of December. Many consider it a traditional kick-off to the holiday season. Tickets are on sale now online and also through the ticket office. Performances are Dec. 5, 6 and 8 at 8 pm and Dec. 7 at 4 pm. Call or go online. City of Hemet Christmas Parade Corner Florida and Palm, Hemet, CA Sat.. Dec. 6 from 10am to 12 noon is the annual parade starting at Florida and Palm and finishes at Gibbel Park. Kimball Avenue, Hemet, CA Their annual Holiday performance will be Sat., Dec. 6 at 2 pm at the First Presbyterian Church. Come and enjoy a wonderful afternoon of music performed by a Hemet community choral group. There will be a $10 donation at the door to support music scholarships for graduating Hemet High School seniors to continue their music education in college. Minor Zoo Park Ave. and Lincoln Ave., Hemet, CA At Christmas visitors will find a nativity scene featuring the live zoo animals. It isn't unusual to see several cars parked in front of this display. You can tune your car radio to a given channel and listen to the Nativity story along with traditional Christmas music. It's a free, drive by exhibit worth the short drive! Thanks to those who over the past year have shared their special finds and keep those suggestions flowing in! Email either Paul Barr at ps.barr@hotmail.com or Betty Barr at epbarr@hotmail.com with your suggestions. To all… Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year!
