The Rainbow Group is continuing its informal social evenings. We hope this will allow as many of our LGBT neighbors and friends, and their friends, to get together with us. Our next social will be on Thursday, March 26 at 6 pm. Let's congregate at Smitty's and we can then determine whether outdoors on the patio will be OK (there are heaters there if the wind is not too bad). We have also reserved the Lodge Conference Room for that time as well in case we need to move indoors. Please order whatever dinner items you wish and then enjoy each other's company and conversation while having dinner. Should you wish to enjoy your own beverages, please feel free to bring whatever you desire. If you have any questions, please call/email Dale at (951) 797-0364 or dale.beckes@gmail.com; or Barbara at (951) 845-6246 or bamerton@alumni.ucla.edu. ~ Dale Beckes 38 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2015 Rainbow Group It's been said that music heals the heart but it also promotes healthy aging. Studies of choruses have found an improved quality of life among older choir members. Singing allows people to use their bodies and minds while creating something beautiful. The Four Season Singers is an accepting group that welcomes singers to come and join us. We are serious about sounding good, but we also have lots of fun learning and harmonizing together. We'll be back in April to start rehearsals for the Fourth of July event. Those of you who have been thinking about it, please come to our first rehearsal. Rehearsals are on Mondays from 3 to 5 pm in the Lodge Ballroom, beginning on April 6. Or, you can contact Barbara Wasco (951) 797-3466 or email at bawasco@ dc.rr.com. ~ Barbara Wasco Four Seasons Singers If your New Year's resolution has failed to give you the results you want, you might want to come and try TOPS. We are very fortunate to have a TOPS group right here in our own community. We have a great group of people, men and women, and we are here to give you support and knowledge to help you reach your weight loss goals. Why not give it a try; you have nothing to lose but weight. TOPS is very affordable. There is a yearly membership fee of $32 and chapter dues of just $3 per month. If you would like to come and see what we are all about, we meet on Tuesdays in the Ballroom with weigh-in from 8 to 8:30 am and the meeting from 8:30-9:30 am. For more information you may contact our Chapter Leader, Cathy Calhoun, Four Seasons Resident at (951) 845-2614 or Rosalee Strong, TOPS Area Captain at (951) 845-9313. ~ Cheryl Burke TOPS Generally when we think about bereavement groups, we think about current losses. But that's not always the case. Frequently people join our group in order to process the recent death of someone close, only to find themselves intensely mourning a death or divorce from years or even decades ago. And occasionally someone will join us whose loss or losses were in the distant past, but whose work or child rearing took priority over grieving, and it is just now that their feelings of loss and/or sadness have come to the surface. There is no timetable for processing grief. As good, goal oriented Americans, we look at "getting over it" as a desirable goal and expect to process through specific stages of grief until we reach the finish line. But it doesn't work that way, and some of you are becoming aware of that. If you are someone who is struggling with feelings of loss, sadness, anger, fear or confusion, think about trying us out. We meet on scheduled Mondays from 1 to 3 pm in the Crafts Room in the Lodge. The room is made private. All conversation is confidential. We will welcome you. You can talk or not, as you feel comfortable. We will not judge you. Just come and join us or you may call or email (951) 922- 0934 or lauriemlarson425@gmail.com. Enjoy the moment. ~ Laurie Larson Bereavement Group
