FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2015 47
If you look at the giant billboard that Four Seasons in Indio
has constructed (above) you will see that pickleball has become a
prominent selling point for older active communities. We love the
game and our numbers are growing. We are constantly using the
two courts that we share with paddle tennis. Groups are playing
day and night. We are looking forward to getting more courts so
we can host tournaments and other social functions. Remember
that as we age we need to make some adaptations to ensure we
stay healthy and avoid injury. Many of us can't take the high
impact pounding of cardio exercises we used to do when we were
younger. So, walking and sports like pickleball keep us healthy
in a fun enjoyable way. If you make even the smallest changes,
you will feel more vibrant, more alive and healthier than you have
in a long time. Come on out and try it. Open group play is on
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 8 to 11 am. Info., Marty
Key, (562) 331-0817 or keeksmail@yahoo.com. ~ Marty Key

Horseshoes for Fun
March was fun with the breaking in of the new horseshoe
venue at The Summit and the welcoming of five new members.
There still are a few refinements that need to be made to
bring the new pits up to their full potential, but we're getting
there. All members are thoroughly enjoying the new site, the
camaraderie and competitive games. Eighteen members and
spouses participated in our March social consisting of dinner
at The Bistro followed by scrumptious homemade desserts at
the beautiful home of Ron and Judy Erickson. I'm sure you
can tell that we are a "must join" club and let me inform you
that two of our new members are ladies, so don't think this is a
man's thing. Come out and join us. We meet every Wednesday
at 10 am at the horseshoe venue, so if you are interested and
would like to join us in this new experience, please contact
Ron Erickson at 951-846-3288, rejlerickson@sbcglobal.net or
Gary Christie at 951-845-0520, goldtoy@earthlink.net. ~ Ron
