soCIal Clubs & groups | sun lakes lIfestyles | May 2015 |23 I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful flowers blooming here in Sun Lakes. This is my favorite time of year. School will be out soon and all the grandchildren will be coming for their visits. Our next meeting and caregivers support group will be Thurs., May 21 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Please note we are back to our normal meeting place. Our guest speaker will be Jennifer Castenada from Somerford Place in Redlands. Her topic will be The Bridge to Rediscovery. Jennifer will also be bringing healthy foods to teach you what is good and what isn't. Our caregiver support group begins immediately after Jennifer's talk. The support group is so very important. Sometimes you don't realize how much you need it — I know, I've been there. Our Arts and Craft Group (Patient Group) will meet in the Arts and Craft Room as normal. We are so happy to be back there. It was difficult meeting in the bus room with all its traffic. This group is designed to help you the caregiver… Just drop your loved one off and go on to the meeting. Enjoy the meeting and support group knowing your loved one is well taken care of and having fun. We play games, do exercises, have entertainment and do just about anything your loved one wants. If you would like to learn more about memory loss and Alzheimer's and Dementia, we have reading materials we can loan you. Call Shirley at 845-2008. If you have any questions about the meeting, support group or patient group, call anyone of us. Shirley at 845-2008, Diane at 769-0130 and Anne at 845-8700. Memory Care Group To help identify problems early, the Alzheimer's Association has created a list of 10 warning signs for Alzheimer's and other dementias. Here is Sign #10: Changes in mood and personality: The mood and personalities of people with Alzheimer's can change. They can become confused, suspicious, depressed, fearful or anxious. They may be easily upset at home, at work, with friends or in places where they are out of their comfort zone. What's a typical age-related change? Developing very specific ways of doing things and becoming irritable when a routine is disrupted. We meet January through October, typically on the second Wednesday of the month, 11 am - 12:30 pm in the Main Clubhouse Bus Room. There are discussions on the latest findings and research, medications, nutrition, exercise, and coping skills brought to us by various speakers. Come to our group to learn and share your experience with others. Info., Gerri Piechowski, 769-2305. Parkinson's Support Have you performed in: Glee Club? Chorus? Church? The shower?
