FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2015 49 Joe Aviles seems to be on a hot streak! In April he won the 9 Ball tournament and in May he came into the 8 Ball in-house tournament undefeated against Dewey Allen. In game one of the finals Dewey scratched on the break. Joe then made two balls in one shot but relinquished control to Dewey on the next attempt. Dewey shooting out of heavy traffic missed his mark and let Joe take over to sink three of his remaining balls. Joe was foiled by the corner of the side pocket and allowed Dewey the opportunity to sink the 8 Ball and win round one. Game two had Joe and Dewey with one loss each, Dewey won the flip of the coin for the break, sinking a striped ball in the process. He decided to stay with the stripes and proceeds to drop six more into the pockets but then missed. Joe shot and missed but left Dewey partially blocked so he missed. Joe attempted a brilliant cross bank combination shot but unfortunately missed and allowed Dewey to make his signature declaration "In The Corner" and Dewey won the game. The 9 Ball in-house tournament was extra fun last month. Kenny Payne was hard on the Harrah family when in round two she made the 9 Ball on the break against Thanh and again made the 9 on the break against me in round four. When I dropped into the losers bracket I won the next game to come up against Kenny for the finals. I managed to win game one but during game two I scratched, gave up ball in hand and allowed Kenny to take the monthly championship. Our team practices at 7 pm on the first and third Mondays, every Wednesday and every Friday. Monthly 8-Ball Club Meetings are on the first Wednesday of the month at 7 pm. Be sure to have plenty of water along and apply an ample coat of sunscreen. We, the Distinguished Duffers of Four Seasons Beaumont, attack a local and economical coarse on Friday mornings to golf for fun. We invite any other resident members to join us. After you are added to the email list the next golf outing and initial tee time will usually be sent to you. Should you wish to join in just hit "reply" on your computer. We need to hear from you by Wednesday evening of that week so we can let the course know how many will actually be joining in. If you simply show up without replying there may not be a tee time available for you. I will be traveling on several trips this year and am asking for one or more in the golf group to assist in making golf reservations and notifying the group while I am not around. This will allow us to maintain a continued weekly schedule. Contact Tim Jacobson, tjacobson@dc.rr.com or (951)797- 3563. ~ Tim Jacobson Golfing for Fun
