12 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2015 Neighborly Notes By Bobbie Eckel Have you checked out the progress on the Edison easement beautification project? We are able to see plants and an outline of the pathways now. Take a few minutes to walk by and be impressed. If you are unsure where to take your old medications, sharps, old paint, etc., go online to the Riverside County Waste Management Department and you will find two pages of specific instructions with locations, times and precautions. I found the information complete and very informative. Residents interested in jigsaw puzzles and board games, please be aware that the Lodge has puzzles which can be loaned to interested residents. The Summit has board games which can be loaned also. We really do have a full-service facility at Four Seasons. Long-time resident Harriet Dauber, has alerted us to the fact that our drivers are not using their turn signals. As she points out, "there's a reason that the turn signals are not a car 'option'. You are supposed to use them when you come to an intersection at which you are going to make a turn." It is bad enough when you are walking, waiting to cross the street at a corner, and a car stops at the corner across the street. You cannot tell if the car is going straight across or going right or left. You wait and wait for some indication of his direction. The driver may wave at you and then proceed to make a turn – still without using directional signals. Whether you are a walker or a driver on Four Seasons streets, the courtesies of using directional signals are mandatory. We owe this courtesy to our neighbors and ourselves. Please think ahead and use your turn signals to let walkers and drivers know your intentions. Beaumont's Lunch and Learn session on Thursday, Aug. 6, features automobile information: Buying a Used Car, Extended Warranties and Picking a Mechanic. The presentation is by representatives of the California Bureau of Automotive Repair. The program is held at 1310 Oak Valley Parkway in Beaumont. If you are interested in attending the 11 am to 1 pm program, please call (951) 769-8539 to make a reservation. According to the July and August issue of the Beaumont Senior Center Newsletter, the Beaumont Senior Center has free paperback books for those who like to read. You are welcome to come to see the variety being offered and to even donate your own books. Call (951) 769-8539 for more information. Thoughts for the day: It is easier to get older than it is to get wiser and it is not hard to meet expenses – they're everywhere. Please get permission from the front desk before dropping off library donations. All books to be donated must be published after 2000. This is because there is limited space on our Lodge library shelves so we would like to be sure that the books we house are being read and checked out regularly. For a complete selection of reading and reference books, please see the Beaumont City Library. Thank you for your consideration. ~ Cindy Graves library Donations
