42 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2015 Racquet Club The dictionary defines "child's play" as "something easily done," with synonyms like "pushover," "walkover," or even "breeze." (How's that for product placement?) Well, when the child is a future superstar named Lleyton (superstars just use one name), the more appropriate synonyms are "awesome," "terrific," and "scary good." This small human being, somewhere in the range of eight years old, was a guest at the Racquet Club's monthly Play Day, and he played effectively with and against folks ten times his age (some of whom may be getting smaller while he is still growing). The Play Days (last Saturday, every month beginning at 8:30 am) are open to all residents and their tennis-playing guests, irrespective of size, though being able to see over the net can be beneficial. Also at the Play Day, the Nelsons once again provided valuable drawing prizes for participants lucky enough have their tickets picked. Major winners included Irve Sturner, who walked away with his own fresh pineapple, because he chose the mystery bag. Apparently, the pineapple had something to do with KHOV's Hawaiian-themed "sell-a-bration." Steven Hovey won a fine-looking wooden box that came with a long-winded story about how cheap it was at Kohl's. But the special prizes were copies of the Red-Blue Fourth of July posters created by Howard Levine with a montage of photos of all the participants in that annual event. At press time, planning was underway for a hosted luncheon to be held in conjunction with the Play Day on Sept. 26. These hosted lunch events several times during the year are among the benefits provided to members of the Four Seasons Beaumont Racquet Club. Looking further ahead, our Annual General Membership Meeting and dinner will be on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Lodge. In addition to a review of the past year's activities, we will conduct elections for all positions on the committee. Interested members are encouraged to attend our Tuesday, Sept. 15 committee meeting is at 4 pm in the Lodge annex (or whatever it is now called) to observe the not-so-mysterious inner- workings of the club management and to consider running for office, and taking an active role in the leadership of our Racquet Club. ~ Steven Hovey Table Tennis Our Ping Pong Club got together on Aug. 4 for a team picture. Our first team picture about three years ago had 14 people in it and no women. This picture has 25 adults including seven women. Yes, our club is growing, and it is popular with both men and women. Come and find out why Ping Pong is rapidly become one of the most popular recreational sports among those 55 or better. For more information please contact Niles Sundstrom (951) 572-5119 or Alan Chan (951) 769-4202. ~ Niles Sundstrom Pictured, row 1: Keiko Garcia, Rudy Garcia, Jeannine Baker, Suchart Sudhamma, Tangmay Sudhamma, My Sudhamma, Sally White, and Rob Gardner.
