16 | sun lakes lifestyles | sePteMBeR 2015 | A very warm welcome to all of our new members. We are all looking forward to another year of fine dining and kicking up our heels to great music. If you were out of town or on vacation last month, it's not too late to get in your membership dues so you can join us for the September dance. You may either mail your check to me: Pat Rothenberger, 4833 Rolling Hills Ave., drop it in the DDC box located on my porch, or bring it with you to sign-ups on Sept. 10. September's dance will be held on Sat., Sept. 19. Doors open at 5 pm to allow members an opportunity to settle in, then enjoy a free, half-hour dance lesson given by John and Rosa Gascoigne at 5:30 pm. This month's lesson is the Tango, that should be great fun so put on those dancing shoes and join us! Suggested attire remains "dressy casual" because of the warm weather, and we will be dancing the night away from 6 to 9:30 pm to one of our favorite bands, "Skyline Express." We'll start the meal with a wonderful Caesar Salad, rolls and butter. Entree choices for this month are: 1) Shrimp scampi over wild rice with mushrooms and green onions $22; 2) Tender tri-tip topped with caramelized onions $20. Both are served with roasted red new potatoes and green beans with bacon and onions. 3) The vegetarian choice this month is vegetarian lasagna $17. I'm really excited about our dessert this month: Sun Lakes Bread Pudding with bourbon sauce… it sounds great! Table selections begin promptly at 2:30 pm on Sept. 10 in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Please come earlier so that you can complete the paperwork for your table. If you sign up and are unable to attend, please call Carla at 797-3506 before 3 pm on the day of the dance, and she will arrange for you to pick up your meal to enjoy at home. Come join us for another great evening at Sun Lakes. Dinner Dance Club If you missed our introductory dance in August, for whatever reason, it's not too late. Our functions for the month of September will still be a good opportunity for any resident, single or a couple, to come and see what our club does and to give Country Western Dancing a try. As a reminder, Country Western Dancing is for everybody. We are the only dance club that equally welcomes singles and couples. So you can feel comfortable to come learn a dance, have some fun and meet some other nice people. We start each year in September with "Very Beginning" line dance instruction and couples dance instructions. Instructions for the line dancing will be held on Monday, Sept. 14, 21 and 28, from 7 to 8:30 pm, at the South Clubhouse. We normally ask a $2 donation for each lesson, but as a special incentive the first lesson on Sept. 14 will be FREE. So, what do you have to lose? Come, check us out and give it a try. Instructions for couples will be held on Tuesdays, Sept. 15 and 29, from 7 to 8 pm at the South Clubhouse. There is no charge for couples lessons. This year our September dance will be Fri., Sept. 25, from 7 to 9 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. We ask a $2 donation at each of our dances. Finally, we will have Mike Novak back as a guest DJ and Instructor at our Oct. 30 dance. Mark your calendar. Do you still have questions or want more information? Call Joe or Jean 769-9148.
