26 | Sun lakeS lifeStyleS | JanuaRy 2016 | Yiddish Culture Club With fall now behind us and winter ahead, we look forward to the YCC to keep our minds well fed. Let's forget our New Year's resolutions to daily use the gym, read War and Peace, learn to speak Chinese and have more fun instead. We will start the year with laughter 'cause with tears there is no winner. So with joyous hearts we welcome all to our Yiddish Culture Club installation dinner ! Join us Wed., Jan. 13 at 6 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. The menu includes a choice of top sirloin steak (all served medium), chicken with lemon basil, or 6 oz. champagne salmon, winter red, white, and green salad, hot rolls, green beans almondine, roasted new potatoes, coffee, tea, and the dessert special cheesecake brownie. Cost to club members is $20 pp and guest cost is $24 pp. Pre-paid reservations must be received by Diane Stone, 1800 Litchfield Ct. in Sun Lakes by Jan. 6. Reservation forms are in the Yiddish Club bin in the Main Clubhouse. Dinner will be followed by professional entertainer Andy Corwin, bassist and guitarist of the famous Limelighters, an American folk music legend. Andy is a headliner performer who has been touring with the Limelighters group since 2004 and they recently recorded a concert for PBS. Andy Corwin, performer and songwriter has an offbeat sense of humor and an outrageous repertoire of folk, country and bluegrass music. A native New Yorker, Andy relocated to Southern California in the late 1970s to attend UCLA where he earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in playwriting. A long-time folk and bluegrass enthusiast, he was a member of the politically incorrect folk/comedy quartet The Foremen during the 1990s and in 2005 his song writing was awarded top honors in the Kerriville Folk Festival's "New Folk" Song Writing Competition. This should be an exciting musical event with possibly some toe tapping under the tables. Info., Diane, 769–0130. Calling all men! Does the "Heart of your Heart" inspire you to sing? No prior singing experience necessary, just a willingness to listen, learn, and join in. We are a group of amateurs like yourself who enjoy singing and having fun. We meet every Wednesday morning at 9 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. For details contact Harry Kaylor at 845- 8054. Come join us!
